My husband had a small refrigerator in his workshop. I'd like to use it at work now, but it still has that workshop smell to it. I've tried everything I could think of to clean it out, but nothing is working. Any ideas for me?
I would clean it with vinegar and then let it sit outside overnight. If it still smells but a box of baking soda inside and run it for a few days. The baking soda should absorb any smell.

The dealership I works at years ago uded "smells be gone" to remove the smoke smell from cars. I'm sure it would work for antthing else. I found it last at the hardwear store. It says it's natural and was made in bermingham last I'd ck'd.

M.; keep your food covered in the new location of the fridge it will loose its smell over time and if your food is covered and is not left in there for along time it should not adopt the smell, however use a box of baking soda in it, just leave it opend and in the back it can help, but the fridge will still work none the less, if its clean then it should be fine, and an empty fridge smells totally different than a full one, go ahead and move the clean one to office and put stuff in it, if its the outside smell just clean it well and it should too adopt the office smell, i would not worry to much about it give it a few weeks it dont behave by then kick him out of the office, ahahahah either way enjoy life and have a good day D. s
Hello M., Use a strong bleach, dishsoap and water solution with a good brush. Scrub inside and out, then let it air out for a couple of days with the door proped open. That should eleminate all of the odors. Keeping an open box of backing soda, or carbonated charcoal inside will prevent odors from occuring. Good luck.

My Mom and Step-Father had a cabin with a fridge up north. At some point one year, during winter time, some homeless people broke in an lived there. The fridge got unplugged or the power was out(dont remember), but the next time they went there, the fridge had mold spots, and smelled really bad. They wadded up newspaper, and filled it full. When they went back a week or two later, the smell was totally gone and all they had to do was clean it out. A free fix, if you save and recycle your newspaprs and junk mail. Hope you find something that works.

Stop by your local pet store and pick up activated carbon - it is found in the fish supply area. Put the small, black pebbles on any type of cookie sheet or open box with low sides that will fit in the fridge and leave for a few days.
The activated carbon absorbs odors better than baking soda because it has lots of microscopic folds and ridges that odor molecules attach to.
