Big shoulder pads, big hair, and lots of blush and eye makeup, and loud colors. A headband would be great, as would leg warmers. The more 80s goofiness you include, the better.

But the 80's were so much fun!!!

Oh yeah, and definitely turn up the collar, an 80's must!!!

Stick with the stretchy leggings and oversized t-shirts that have the collars cut out of them. That way it can hang off of one shoulder. Put a tank top underneath. Remember... bright bold colors and lots... LOTS...of make up and hairspray. get a pair of pumps and some socks or fishnets and maybe some leg warmers

Wear as much big jewelry as possible and make your hair big. Shoulder pads were really in during the 80s too.

I was also going to say to go as Madonna in the 80's. (The movie the other mom was referring to is "Desperately Seeking Susan".) You could also get an old sweatshirt and cut off the collar focusing on hanging off one shoulder a bit. Pair this with a tank top/wifebeater underneath it (ala "Flashdance"). You could wear this with "pegged" jeans: find some boot cut jeans and roll them like this: once to the side and twice up the ankle. Then wear some Keds (or similar type) without laces on! Or you can wear a short skirt with leggings underneath (go with different colors for more of an 80's feel). Then heavily accessorize with costume jewelery ala Madonna style. If you have a cross, wear that. You can go to Claire's for the accessories if you don't have much at home. Hope that helps! I've been to a bunch of 80's parties.

E., this is great. You should go as a pregnant Madonna. Look for old photos of her from the 80's. Lace, bangles, etc. Check out the movie Suddenly Susan and you will get the idea. Just wear a tank top that fits you and then the 1/2 top on top. Too funny, have a great time!

I went to high school in the 80s, so I know all about the wardrobe then!

A few options. First, try to find leg warmers if you wear a skirt that would show them off. Trademark goofy 80s thing. You could do a preppy look with an Izod polo shirt (collar turned up) and tapered jeans with a high waist (you can still find these around). Big bold colors. Shoulder pads. Tapered pants with a big shirt with a big belt around it. Big, chunky jewelry. Blue eye shadow is essential. Use a brush to pull your hair out to the side and spray heavily with hair spray to make it look like wings.

Have fun! Clothes in the 80s were a lot of fun and some of it was quite flattering if you find the right look.
