My 6 year old complained of a stomach ache this morning and said it was hard to poop, a few hours later she tells me she is farting pee, I look at her pants and its a clear mucas like liquid. Everytime she farts a clear liquid is coming out. Its only been a few hours but I am not sure this is normal? Anyone have any ideas?

What can I do next?

How is her diet? I ask because I get that mucus-like issue myself if I have eaten very fatty or fried foods, which makes my stool greasy. Could this be what she has?

My husband, who is disabled from a severe brain hemorrhage, has this every once in a while. Milk of magnesium works best for our situation. Just make sure that when she feels the need to pass gas she sits on the toilet, or give her some pull ups for more confidence and protection. Also, take a look at her diet to keep her regular. My husband tube feeds, so there is really nothing extra I can do other than a little more water.

If the doctor says she is constipated, then perhaps there are no solid feces coming out, just water. Did you ask the doctor what to do? Have you asked about a stool softener, a laxative, a diet change, an increase in fluids? A good pediatrician will give you instructions. Did yours? If so, did you follow them? How about the pharmacy manager in your regular pharmacy or the nearest 24 hour pharmacy? This could be standard constipation but it could be the sign of a blockage too, so without more info about how long this has been going on, what her diet is, whether there was a recent illness or other contributing factor, and a dozen other important pieces of info, there's nothing else the internet can do for you.

Yes, you should call her pediatrician and ask. She's probably got a stomach bug of some kind, but you will feel so much better if you talk to the nurse. Seriously, give your pediatrician's office a call.

H. you really need to call your pediatrician. Obviously that's not normal. Is she running a fever? What other symptoms does she have? Your DOCTOR is the best one to advise you!

well, if she's constipated, her bowels are trying to push the feces out and are only able to expel the moisture, making the poop even drier and harder.

sounds pretty normal to me.

i'd start with the usual, prune juice and applesauce and lots of water. it may be that she needs an enema if it's all too compacted to make it out.
