Hi moms, I really need your help on this one I'm looking for a great Preschool to send my 3 year old daughter to, she can already name & identify all her colors/shapes/numbers/ABC-phonics, and we are currently working on her writing and cutting skills, but I would like for her to learn more and be challenged. Does anyone know of a really good preschool, maybe Montessori? or should I just wait for her to turn 4 in August and send her to Pre-K in the public school?
She is my first and only one, so I don't know where to look for a good Preschool or what is best private or public. I live in the Cypress area so I'm looking for something nearby 249/Spring Cypress, also if I decide to wait until September she would be going to Willowbrook Elementary is that school anygood?

Depending on whether you live on the East or West Side of 249, and if it is not too far out of the way for you - I would recommend Primrose School off Louetta almost to Champions Forest.

The adventure preschool at Windwood Presbyterian is the best in the 249/S.C. area. Registration starts in February for this fall. It's a bit tough to get into if you don't get signed up early. http://www.windwoodpc.org/preschool
I live in the 249/Spring Cypress area also. I send my 3yo to The Adventure Preschool at Windwood Presbyterian Church on Spring Cypress Road. They have a awesome curriculum and wonderful staff. My 3yo has been going there since she was 20 months old and has really enjoyed it. She's learned so much. Since it's at a church, there's obviously some christian education that is included. In addition to the regular teachings, there's also bible time. If you're interested, there are informational meetings the last week in January and they start registering in mid-Feb. for the fall sememster. The website is www.windwoodpc.org. Click on the school. I know there are several good preschools in the area, you just have to find one that fits you :) There is also one at Prince of Peach Catholic Church, one at Lakewood United Methodist, and one at NW Baptist Church. My daughter went to The Adventure Preschool at Windwood, as others have mentioned. We loved it and found the cost to be very reasonable - and their program has since extended through at least fifth grade with plans for K-12 in the future. They have extgended care for working parents, as well as part time "mothers day out" programs.
My nephew and neice attended Lakewood Montessori, which I see others have praised. It's rather expensive, but a great choice for the working parent - and may offer a more challenging curriculum. Both the schools I mentioned offer Spanish and extended music enrichment. Either would be a great choice.
If you are set on a Montesorri, I hear Lakewood Montessori is really good! I had a friend who worked there and couldn't say enough good things about it; it was just a bit out of our price range at the time.
Our 4yo is in KinderCare. We thought it would be temporary until we found something better, but found it is the best program by far! He has really come a long way, and he's been in much more expensive programs. He's been in the one at Jones & Millridge for almost a year now and LOVES IT! They even work with the kiddos in advancing or holding back if they feel the child has/has not met the milestones for his age group.
The preschool program is fantastic too! They've actually got phonics, math, and one more course that the kiddos can take too. It's one-on-one instruction, and we are amazed at how well our son is reading already after just a couple of months in the phonics course.
I would highly recommend KinderCare for both the program & the relatively low tuition!
I absolutely LOVED Kids R Kids. Due to school, my kids went to 2 different ones and I thought they were great. My opinion as a mom is they were very loving and cared about each child. The centers were always very neat and clean and they made sure you knew about your child's day in detail. As an elementary teacher, I love them because they don't do nearly as much seat work (worksheets) as some of the other day cares. The kids will do fine in school if they are taught to get along, to share and to work independently which is how Kids R Kids is run. That (the social aspect) is something that needs to be taught before they get to school that can't be done at home. My kids attended the Kids R Kids on Franz Rd and the one on Keith Harrow and I can't say enough great things about the school and the staff.

I have nothing but praise for Growing Scholars Montessori at Beltway 8 and West Road. My 4 year old has been there since he was 7 months and my 2 year old attends there as well. They kids get such a well rounded education. They work at their own pace and I feel like for their age levels they are ahead of the game. They learn more than just the basics. My 4 year old knows quite a bit of geography and science material as well as good "practical life" tools. I feel like he will be more than ready when he starts kindergarten in the fall.

I have been taking my children to The Honey Tree Preschool off and on for 13 years. I worked full time when my older 2 boys (14 & 11)were little so they went full time. My youngest is almost 4 and he's been going there for 2 years part time. Helen Fox owns the school and she just celebrated her 25th Anniversary in 2008. It is a loving environment and you can drop in anytime to check on your children. I would NOT recommend Longwood Montessori unless someone has a positive experience with them to personally report to you. It sounds like Debra just went online. Hope this helps you.

Lakewood Montessori is an Excellent school. It is on the corner of Loutetta and Malcomson. My son went there starting at 18 months (he is now 13) and my daughter has been going there since she was 3 months old (she is now 6 and in their Kindergarten program)The school is well run with very little teacher turn over (My daughter's current teacher was a teachers aid when my son was there and went through to get her montessori credetials). They have camera's in each of the rooms and you can ask for a video tape of your childs day if you like. At any point you can go to the office and watch on the video screens (I wish they had internet access but that is one thing they don't have). In the past there has been a waiting list don't know if it is the same now (usually that is more for the baby room). The school isn't cheap but I think it has done a great job for my kids.
Hi, I recommend Northwoods Presbyterian Early Learning Center ... The ELCP endorses The Comprehensive Innovations Curriculum. The primary focus is on developmental tasks for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers: Transitioning, Making Friends, Exploring Roles, Communicating, Problem Solving and Expressing Feelings. Its a warm and loving environment too.
