My sister is getting married next month, I have checked at the major retailer stores (nordstrom, macys, jcpenney, dillards, neiman marcus, etc......) but haven't seen any dresses that I like and that are within by budget (no more than $200.00) If anyone out there knows about a place were I can find one like a little boutique shop or something like that. Please help!!!!

What can I do next?

I have found a few dresses that I have worn to weddings at White House Black Market. I tend to go straight to the back of the store in the sale section. Most of the dresses I have gotten are around $50 - $100.

David's Bridal has dresses for $99 and up. You might check there. They are online also, google them. Another great place to check is local dry cleaners, sometimes clothing is left over their time limit and they sell the items. Also another good place is the Dillard's Outlet store in Irving off 360 Mall close to Six Flags. There are some stupendous savings there, just have to be diligent in looking. T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Ross those are good places that you might get lucky at also. Terry Costa's at Preston Rd. and 635 Southwest corner. Those are just a few. Good luck! -

I would definately try a resale shop. Most of the dresses have been worn once.

This may not work; however, I have a bridesmaid dress that has never been used. My brother cancelled his September wedding and I was going to sell it on ebay. It is strapless; it is a brown dress with a really pretty cream sash. The dress is floor length; however, can be altertered. The dress size is a size 8 I think. I paid $150 for it.

There used to some stores called Special Occasion Dresses and Whatchamacallit Fashions off Preston Rd. that had discounted dresses. I've bought several there in the past but you might want to call and make sure they're still in business. Also Terry Costa Bridal is off Preston with a good selection. www.chadwicks.com has very reasonable nice dresses.

Hi G., without really knowing what you are looking for I recently fell in LOVE with Anthropologie at North Park. They may have some other locations too. Their dresses typically go up to a size 14. Best of luck!

Hey G.,

I have actually had some success at thrift stores! Most of the Salvation Army and Good Will stores have fitting rooms with mirrors. Those two stores tend to group their clothing by color, which is nice. And all the fancy dresses are in one location. You may not have the time to browse through the selection (nothing but diversity there! No two dresses are the same!), but if you do you may come up with a gem.

Had to come back to add an additional thought: It's more fun to do this with a friend. They can give you their honest reaction: up or down with the thumb! My 17 yr old daughter is my best critic. One time I found a nice sundress for her - she vetoed it and made me try it on. It fit, but I didn't buy it because I had it in my mind that this shopping trip was to buy things for her - and I regret not buying it to this day! (Not a heavy guilty regret, just a light-hearted one)

Hi,

Anonymously Yours is a small boutique and 2nd hand store. People resell their wedding dressed there and they also have sample dresses. I bought my dress there (9yrs ago) for $200 and it was originally a $500 dress. Someone had bought it from another store and had it altered and then something apparently didn't work out, as the dress didn't get picked up or something like that. Anyway, it worked great for me and I loved it! They also have ladies clothes, too.

They are located in Dallas off of Forrest between Abrams and Greenville.

Good luck!

M.
