So What Happened?

Well, the baby acne is getting better so far so good. I have not put anything on her face. I have tried to just keep the area clean by washing her face several times per day. I thank everyone for their reply and suggestions. Thank you all.

My daughter had this problem and I always wanted to pop them! But you just leave them alone and they go away. You don't really need cream. At least thats what my doctor told me. I guess if they dont go away or get even worse then maybe something should be done.

Baby Phisoderm is a great product to use for baby acne. Just like the adult Phisoderm it helps keep the skin ph balanced. It is made specifically for infants. You can't find it on the shelf. All you have to do is go to the Wal-mart pharmacy and ask them to order it for you. It takes a day or two to get in and it is only $4.00 a bottle. It can be used on their hair and body. I just bought some a few days ago for my daughter's baby who is 2 months old who also has baby acne. I used it for his mother who is 19. I don't know why it's not on the shelfs anymore. I think it is because Johnson and Johnson advertised so much and people tend to think if it's from Johnson and Johnson it must be the best. I guess it's one of those best kept secrets. There is no extra charge for ordering it in. Just ask the pharmacist.

My Clare Anne developed an awful case of "baby acne" around 3 months. It was so bad I kept taking her to the pediatrician because I was sure it was something else! I started washing her with the baby aveeno wash and that seemed to help. Unfortunately nothing made it go away completely, but it did run it's course (4-6 weeks). Hang in there!

Oh, my babies both had baby acne. It was so sad... I wanted to show off the perfect angels, but was disturbed by the zits!

Unfortunately for me, my doctor said we had to wait it out. The good news is, it doesn't last long (a week or 2) and then it's gone for good. Perfection once again!

Congratulations on the baby. Don't sweat the small stuff!

DO absolutely NOTHING! I am shocked your pediatrician would say put anything other than breast milk on a newborn's face. Both of my kids had baby acne and as hard as it was to watch, it passed quickly without doing anything other than normal bathing. I never used soap or creams on my children's faces until they were 3. They have perfect skin.

Good luck. And try not to pick.

My doctor gave my baby a prescription for Lotrimin. It didn't cost much, and it worked very well.

Absolutely agree with the other moms on this one! Just keep her face clean, and make sure you wipe off any formula and spit up that happens.

Her "acne" is just a Newborn's unbalanced hormones, and will straighten itself out shortly.

If it doesn't clear up by the end of the month, however, give me a call. My # is ###-###-####, and my email is ____@____.com'll discuss what may be in her environment that is causing the "acne" and go from there.

PS ... Baby "acne" doesn't necessarily mean she will develop a bad case of acne as a teen, either, so no need to stress out over it.

Congratulations on your baby girl! ~J.~

my son had it also when he was born, i left it alone, his skin is adapting to our air rather than what he has been in for the past 9 months! within about a week it was pretty much gone, and i only put lotions on him if his skin was dry or if it is cold outside.

I know this sounds funny but if you are breastfeeding get a little bit of breastmilk and rub it in!
I learned that trick from a lactation consultant and it works!

My son got it too. Best thing to do is leave it alone, it will clear up. My son got them for the fist 2 months and never got them again after that. And don't try to pop them, that will only cause scaring.

I have to agree with the other Moms.
The only question I would have for you is are you nursing or bottle feeding?
My sister's baby had a horrible rash, I mean all over her face, neck and head and it was from her formula.

If your baby's is on her cheeks only and doesn't spread all over her face then don't put anything on it.
It will definitely pass very soon.

Congrats on your new baby!

Aveeno baby wash for her bath then mix eucerin with a little vaseline (this makes it smooth on a little easier because eucerin is SO THICK!!) Put it all over baby after the bath and again in the morning. Twice a day will make all the bumps go away.

Many babys get it and they get over it in a short period of time. My doc and everyone I knew with the issue just washed the baby's face at every diaper change but did not use any types of medicines/lotions on their newborns.

My first had baby acne really bad. I used the eucerin on him everyday and it eventually went away. it just takes time. it's not going to hurt him, it just isn't very pretty. Don't try anything else. Just don't use any soap on her cace just in case it's sensitive. But the eucerin will keep it from getting dried out.
just be patient. it will go away on it's own. Congratulations on your new baby girl!

I recommend Arbonne ABC body wash & lotion. They are pure, safe, and beneficial products, no oils, etc., and help to really "clean"... I began using the products for eczema for my 2 young boys and find myself using it when I have break-outs, because it will dry-out, but not let it get too dry. I have a membership (although I do not actively sell) and can get you the products at my discount. Just let me know.

Good luck!

My son looked like a teenager waiting to be asked to prom. His baby acne was bad and huge. To be honest we just had to let it go away. Which it did fine on it's own. It doesn't bother the baby, just the parents. On his really bad spots my husband would put a little alcohol on a q-tip and dab it on. I think just because of how much it bugged him. It's just the hormones the baby recieves from you during birth, and if you breast feed.

I'm with Kelley, don't use anything. It's hormone related and will only be there for a cople weeks at the most. It will all start to disappear rather quickly. Messing with it will only irritate it and could make it worse or infected.

Oh my little one had a bad case around six -eight weeks old! All over her face and all the way down onto her shoulders. My peditrician just said it would go away and it did. It doesn't hurt them or at least it sure didn't bother mine.

Don't use anything. It will just naturally go away, all newborn gets this....best to let nature just take its toll, it will be gone before you know it....Their skin is just adjusting; and you don't want to use anything that might clog their pores. My son had too within a week of birth, it didn't last very long.
