I have had an odd feeling in my chest/neck for the past 24 hours. This has happened before but months ago. Im not anxoius or stressed about anything. It doesnt happen during any specific activity. I have done some reasearch and put together that I could be having palpitations. I read this could be happening because of all the caffiene I have had within the past couple of days or it could have something to do with my menstral cycle.

My question is- If you have been diagnosed with palpitatons, WHAT DO THEY FEEL LIKE?? My hope is that hearing descriptions from others will help me decide if I should be worried about a more serious problem.

if you put your fingers on your neck, in the groove just to the side of your voice box, you will feel your pulse. thats the main artery (one on each side) that take blood to your noggin LOL

the palpitations i'd had felt like a regular beat, then it would 'skip' a beat, making me feel just a teensy bit woosy headed (very very tiny bit), and then my heart would beat fast for a couple beats to make up for the skipped one i always assumed.

palpitations as i understand are harmless and come and go for some ppl. i would get them due to stress, and i'm going thru early - and i mean EARLY - premenapause. oh, joy. but the palpitations are due to that which is a affect of pre- and menapause.

have it checked, but i wouldn't be surprised if your dr might have you wear a monitor for a day, but then do nothing. thats what mine did.

good luck!

Hello~ I just read your note and was out of town. I hope you've gone to the
doctor. I've heard different things; recently a neighbor lady (44) wasn't feeling good and drove herself to the hospital. Then, she was rushed by ambulance for immediate surgery for a stent. I don't know all the details, but get checked out. Better to be safe than sorry. Best wishes....

I get heart palpitations when I am preggo. It feels like my heart is beating really fast, and it feels like it is beating in my throat...that sounds strange, I don't really know how to describe it. I don't get dizzy or have any other symptoms other than feeling my heart beat like crazy. The episodes don't usually last too long, and it happens mostly when I am laying down. I wake up at night with them a lot.

My dr ordered an EKG just to check. My heart was fine, so they just attributed it to the pregnancy.

I would say that the caffeine can definitely make your heart beat faster, that would be my first step...cut out or cut down caffeine intake and see what happens.

I get palpatations if I drink coke , I don't really have much caffeine so a coke can set it off. If feels like a butterfly is inside my chest fluttering , or like my heart is wobbly and banging aganist fat , that is the best description I can give. It feels horrible and caffeine is not worth it in my opinion , I'd rather go without.

for me it feels like either my heart paused and skipped a beat or like a jolt in my chest. the doctor explained to me that it comes after a stressful event....so if you were stressed two days ago, it might occur now.

If I were you I would go to the doctor and have it checked out. It is probably nothing and hearing it from a doctor will help you to relax.
