Hello, can anyone recommend a good OBGYN in the Mobile, Alabama area? We are pregnant with our 5th, probably 6 months along, might be hi-risk coz mom will be 40. Keep hearing bad things all over about OBGYNs here. PLEASE point us to the right group/hospital/doctor; would really appreciate it. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Why r u hearing bad things? IE:What about them?

I have been w/ the same dr since I was 15 yrs old.....I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE this man!!!-Dr. Dan Herrera at Bay Area Physicians for Women/Springhill Memorial-###-###-####.....we are pregnant w/ our 4th child and everytime somebody asks me and I tell them who my doc is, Oh!!! He's great!!! When we go to the hospital to have our children ALL of the nurses are excited to see him because he's sooooooo great-'oh,he's wonderful-he's so precious-he's the best dr. in Mobile'!!!!! Also, not only is he the greatest(to all of the nurses)ALL of them know-you DO NOT mess w/ him or his patients!! When our first child was born,I was having a ridiculously painful labor-the anesthesiologist(sp?)came in and was very rude to me-he said "if u don't shutup I'm gonna leave u in this room screaming and I don't care how much pain ur in"well-I was in pain-our son was born at 36wks and at that point I was somewhere around 4 1/2 cm. and he was trying to crown..I (of course)put him in his place(which the nurse laughed at)and when Dr. Herrera got there he LET HIM HAVE IT!!-You could here him down the hall at the nurses station hollering (and cussing)at him! The nurse came into my room so she could laugh...He had to come back in later and up my drip; he didn't say ANYTHING except good luck and I'm sorry I was rude to you earlier-I wasn't fully awake....HHHHAAAAAAAAA.......

He's wonderful;I always tease my hubby and tell him that if we ever move to NY or somewhere like that, he better be prepared to shell out ALOT of money for plane tickets-I'll fly back to just to have my OB/GYN appts!! LOL I HIGHLY recommend him..

Dr. David Carpenter is a very good OBGYN. His practice is in the Mobile Infirmary Hospital. He recognized that my first child was in distress during labor and did an emergency C-Section...it ended up that the cord was wrapped around her neck 5 times (she is still a very active child:)). That was in 2003 and I am 40 now, so he does have experience with us "older moms". Good Luck!

I had my first (and only) child at 37. I used Dr. Carolyn Ringhoffer and thought she was great. She's not the overly touchy feely type, but netiher am I. I had my baby at Springhill Hospital. I had a nurse in the room with me from the moment I checked in until the baby was delivered. Good luck.
