well he is off the baby food, instantly. I have been feeding my son all the organic this and thats out there. I have tried steaming whole vegatables, chicken, but its turned down. He loves all the grains, crackers, cheerios, cookies. I want to break out of this new concept, feeding him real food, not easy snack junk. I know that I dont eat much and now ill be cooking for his needs from now till forever. Can you please advise me on what to make for my little man with a mouth full of teeth and that is hopefully certain to be eating for the kitchen efforts?? easy and healthy ?? oh any book suggestions are helpful. Peace

What can I do next?

try cooked pasta with butter and mozzerella (sp?) cheese. The butter gives it a little flavor and the cheese makes it easier to pick up. My son lived on that when he was that age. Also low fat cheese cubes, cottage cheese, and cereal bars. It sounds like you are doing a great job already.

Good Luck!

I have a very picky 20 month old, she still eats baby food some for her veggies because she still doesn't like to eat solid veggies except like corn and green beans. I found she really likes the kid cuisine fish sticks meal so I get those sometimes cause they have fish sticks, corn, and mac & cheese. Try feeding him a little a everything you eat sometimes they will try it if they see momma eating it.

To get protein Ritz mini peanut butter crakers or cheese crackers are good snacks. Also bananas are good most kids like them.

Good luck.

when my daughter was this age, i'd usually cut up strawberries, kiwi's, banana's,mango's cherries, etc.., pair them with cubes of mild cheese or cottage cheese, some sliced avocado, crackers, little diced tomatoes, a sliced hardboiled egg, the important thing to keep in mind is that babies this age need little protien, and calcium because of all the milk they already ingest, so a little bit of cheese with a meal is sufficient. If your child already drinks juice then little fruit is also needed. carbohydrates and veggies may be all he needs. My daughter wouldn't eat her veggies at this age, i took notice and starting adding vegetable juice in small parts to her regular juice. Also as long as the food the rest of the family is eating isn't to spicy, or doesn't contain allergy sensitive ingredients (like peanuts, or onions) then he may love eating what the rest of you eat, although you may need to dice it up or turn it into mush in a food processor.

Hi T.! I've gotten a lot of ideas from www.wholesomebabyfood.com. My baby who turned a year on Valentines Day, enjoys grapes, bananas, pears, apples, cheese(you can melt it in a whole wheat tortilla like a quesadilla), etc. If he enjoys sweet stuff, my daughter always loves sweet potatoes and all types of sqaush. I hope this helps and good luck!

My son love the shells and cheese. He still refuses to eat most meats and veggies uless smashed. Try feeding him things that you can cut into slices or small bits. I've found that if he's given the option of feeding it to himself, he's more likely to eat it.

Hello T.,
Try pureeing veggies and adding it to things like brownies and smoothies. Check out the today show website, they had a lady on called the sneaky chef. Good luck.

Hi T.. Have you tried fruits? My daughter likes some veges, but will eat almost any fruit. Also, I've learned that she will eat anything if she has something to dip it into, like ketchup, salsa, guacamole, etc. I hope that helps!

I just bought a book called "Healthy Cooking for your Kids". It's GREAT! And the very cool thing about it is mostly it's presentation! My girls are 5 and 7 and will at least try anything that is presented in a cool way! There are things like chicken and apple meatballs, to apple and carrot muffins, and cherry tomato and cheese tartlets. All fun stuff for a little one to grab and eat! I got it at Barnes & Noble and I think it was like $5 in the bargain books. I would suggest looking for "healthy" cooking for kids books like this one! Anyway, it makes it as much fun to cook as it is for the little ones to eat. This book is by Sarah Banbery. Good luck and remember, if you start them out liking things like ground turkey instead of ground beef.. healthy choices.. they will naturally LOVE it later. My little girls eat shrimp, lobster, crab legs, spinach lasagne, turkey/sloppy joes, and I cook with very little salt! They also love whole wheat bread.

Go to Egiggle.com. there's a great cookbook for babies and toddlers. I bought it for my best friend's baby shower, I also threw in a little food mill that you can take anywhere. They are not expensive and very helpful. Good Luck!!
