I have never had health insuance as an adult, and i have no idea how to go about getting it. where to find information is the hardest thing i guess because it is the first step. is there an insurance agent in the boulder area (not longmont please) who deals health insurance plans who can give me really good info on several different providers? what are your recommendations either for an agent or a insurance provider? its just my husband and i and our 1 child with no regard to prenatal or delivery coverage. thanks moms.

Contact Dan Fosco in Boulder. He is independent and usually works with businesses, but I'm sure he'll still help you with an individual policy. He's very knowledgable and will help you find the right policy that fits your budget and needs. His company is Bolder Benefits and his phone # is ###-###-####. Tell him C. Nixon from Dream Dinners referred him. Hope it helps!!

I have been self-employed for 6 years. I have had 3 brokers during that time. The absolute best person I know is my current health care broker. Unlike others he is happy to work with individuals and small business owners. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about how rate plans change and can keep you ahead of the increases. He is very responsive and will meet you near your house and not require a ton of office visits or unnecessary meetings. He thoroughly researches things and presents very clear data and choices so you can pick a plan. Have I said enough about ho great he is? :) Here is his info: Craig Gilbert, www.benefitriver.com and by phone ###-###-#### and by email: ____@____.com luck!

I would do some searching online and checkout different prices for different options. It's not easy to sort it all out. You need to understand a lot of industry lingo to really know what your getting - PPO, HMO, co-pays, out-of-pocket limits, etc.I'm with Kaiser Permanenete. They're quite good for a lot of things - preventive meds, and serious stuff - I've found that they're not as helpful when your dealing with things like a bad knee, or something like that. You have lots of options to add on alternative med. maternity, etc. Good luck. It's not easy.

Hi Shannon,
Have you ever heard of AmeriPlan? AmeriPlan offers low cost dental, medical, vision (and much more) plans. They have plans starting as low as $9.98 for this month, all plans are 50% off for the first year!!! My son just had to have major dental surgery, with our insurance (through my job) our out of pocket cost was $1340. After our insurance paid we used our AmeriPlan and it brough our out of pocket cost down to $834!!! AmeriPlan is for everyone! You can use it just as your "insurance" or you can use it with your insurance. It's awesome! If you want more information about the plans please go to www.everyonebenefits.com/trdettmers, if you want more information about working from home please go to www.freedomathometeam.com/trdettmers. Please feel free to contact me with any questions! ###-###-####. Take care and good luck!

My husband is self employed. We searched health insurance online and found a couple companies that would quote on line. We then called around to the different health care places to see which one they took. No point in getting insurance if noone will take it. Then we compared rates and coverage that we wanted/needed. We decided on Humanaone. A lot of places took it and the coverage and price was right for our family. They also had several different plans to choose from and you are able to change your plan at anytime. Not sure this was heplful. Take your time in deciding which company and policy is right for you.
