Headache Question...

Yes I have had many side effects from different kinds of birth control. The worst was constant headaches. Just call your Dr. and tell them. There aremany different doses of hormones that they can give you to try and see what your body can handle minus the headaches. I think i tried 3 or 4. But it can be done. One option thatI loved was the NOUVA RING sp? It is a ring that you have inside you for 3 weeks and you take it out on the 4th week. No side effects, you don't have to remember a pill and no headaches. Just a suggestion. Good Luck, L.

if they are the placebos - dont take them.....i never took them just popped the pill out and threw it away so i would remember when to start my new pack...see if NOT taking them helps in the headache department

I didn't have a reaction to the placebo pills, but I too never took them. I have went back to my doctor and switched pills before due to bad cramps. So switching your pills out is always an option.

A little late in reponding but, I wanted to share that it sounds like you may be experiencing Migrane headaches. I have had them since childhood with periods where they wouldn't happen for a few years and then start up again. I do believe hormones are involed with mine as well as weather and stress. Back to your question, I was not able to take the Pill because they would cause the headaches.

I was on the pill for many years and then came up with a generic version. For some reason the generic version caused headaches. Once I went off it they stopped. You may need a different dose, a different pill or to stop.

Hi K. – I experienced the same issue you are having. However, the only difference is that I was on the birth control pill for many years. The symptoms for me did not start that soon. Mine were finally diagnosed as Migraines and noting I did helped. The only thing that did finally help was I stopped taking the pill and after about a year the headaches/migraines went away. I also had headaches while taking the pill, but not necessarily only during that week. They switched me to Orthotrycyclin-Low and I haven't had a problem, since. It's a lower dose of the hormones, so maybe your body won't react when it doesn't have the hormone.

Hi K. I was getting headaches too when I went back on the pill after giving birth to my daughter! I was at the gyno for my pap and I mentioned the headaches to my Dr. and right away she knew what I was talking about and said it could be from the pill (it was a diffrent kind then I usually took-but I can"t remember which one!!) She told me to take Excedrine Migrane and if that didn't help to call her back and she would give me a script-it seemed to work but eventually I convinced my husband to get snipped so I could go off the pill all together!! Good luck and I would call your Dr.!!

K. - I too experienced this type of headache. I was told it was a migraine which can be caused by taking the pill. Yours also sounds like you are experiencing a migraine. I would seek an alternative method of birth control or a lower dosage.

K. you need to go to the doctor and tell him your about your headaches. This can be very serious it is possible that the pill is to strong.Birth controll pills cause all sorts of problems. One out of many is aneurysms and common is blood clots especially if it's your first time on the pill. The patch is a real good method of birth control. The shot also cause alot of weight gain and bleeding in between periods and sometimes on the shot you don't have a peroid for years. I've been on all of them so this is first hand experience.
