If you have tried all sorts of meds and it hasn't touched it, then go to the dr. I don't want to alarm you but there could be all sorts of reasons for it and some are not pleasant..... go to the doc if over the counter meds are not working.

Are you also sleepy/tired earlier in the evening? Years ago I had a headache for days and tried to treat it like a headache, until I finally went to my doctor. He told me never to pull that again. The sinus infection had started to eat away at the lower part of my brain case(?). He had to put me on antibiotics for relief. The sooner you go, the better.

Sometimes if I get dehydrated and don't drink enough water (64 oz a day), then I get persistent headaches. Headaches can be pretty serious though so maybe you should go ahead and visit the doctor.

I suffer from various forms of headaches. Everything from sinus to migraine to ocular migraines (http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/ocular-migraine..... My neurologist always told me that if I have a severe headache with visual disturbances (not photophobia) to go to the doctor or ER. Only you know your body and what to do.

As for treatment when my headaches settle by my eyes, I will use an ice mask around my eyes with an ice pack on the back of my neck. I then try to lay in a dark room very, very still until I can relax. If this doesn't work a visit with a chiropractor will help.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Good luck.

Hi E.,

I would go to the doctor sooner, rather than later - based on what you're saying this doesn't sound like a headache or migraine. Try not to be scared, but rather... be smart.

I have a friend who had a headache for weeks that wouldn't go away and strange brain sensations - not saying yours is the same! She went to 3 Dr's before one finally did a scan and discovered she had a brain aneurysm. The only reason she's alive today is because she finally found a Dr who checked.

I'm not saying you have a brain aneurysm... I am saying it just sounds like there's something else going on and not a regular headache.

Be well,
E.

I was getting alot of headaches behind my eyes. I thought it was just sleep deprivation (I have 3 kids, 3 and under) When I went to get my teeth cleaned, the dentist told me I have TMJ, where I grind my teeth. It causes headaches behind the eyes that most people believe to be sinus headaches. He told me that sleep deprivation can be a cause, but that grinding will not allow a good night sleep. It is a cycle. I hope this helps, even if it is just a bad headache for you. :)

Please go to the dr. Last year I had a headache for 3 days that was so bad I couldn't even stand. I basically refused to go to the dr until the 4th day when I got a fever. And I probably still wouldn't have gone but I was 5 mos pregnant and could not function at all. (My husband and dr made me go.) It turned out to be viral meningitis. I'm not saying you have meningitis, but like someone else said headaches are a symptom of something. It's best to have a dr check it out so that you know there's nothing serious going on. We are not supposed to have headaches (or many anyway) and to have one for 3 days is not ok. It very well could be a sinus headache (those stink). Please have it checked out. I hope you're feeling better soon!

If it has turned into a sinus "infection" then the over-the-counter medicine will not help. You will need antibiotics. If you do not get meds for it, it can turn into an ear infection or upper resperatory infection. I just had it and got all of those b/c I kept just taking Sudafed. It hurt BAD. Good luck!

You could have a sinus infection, or something worse. You need to get to the doctor. You also need to see the doctor to make sure everything is OK with you, you do not need to fall down and get hurt and pass out with just your child there.

Hi there!
I thought I would drop you a line about your sinus h/a and give you a few "natural" remedies to try. I've worked in the medical field for over 12 yrs, and lean toward natural remedies when possible. Some things to try......organic apple cider vinegar from Bragg. My husband has chronic sinus problems, and a 2 tsp dose of this in water always helps him. (tastes terrible, but works wonderfully.....also, have a small snack when you take it.)Apple cider vinegar is acidic, but causes an alkaline reaction in your blood bringing balance to your system. Also, something to look into is oil pulling. I've tried it once and cleared up the worst sinus infection I ever had without any antibiotics. I tried it with olive oil, but you're supposed to use sesame or sunflower. (olive oil was what i had on hand) A few things to try, but try to see the doc if it doesn't clear up! Hope this helps you like it did for us!
Take care,
B.

I get those type of headaches frequently. They were first diagnosed as migraines but none of the medicines worked. I saw another neurologist and he said they were caused by stress. I carry all of my stress in my neck and shoulders. He tried several types of muscle relaxers but nothing has worked. Some essential oils such as lavendar and peppermint will help along with frequent massages to get the muscles that are causing the headaches to relax. I find that if I get a good deep tissue massage about once a month I do much better. Sometimes 2 tylenol and 2 advil together will get it to back off. I hope this helps. I have had a long struggle with headaches so I can definitely sympathize with you.

It sounds like you have a migraine. If your headache has not gone away, go see your doctor. They can give you something that will take away the pain and the dizziness. Sometimes after having children, the stress of being a mom, lack of sleep and even hormonal changes can trigger a migraine. Your doctor will be able to help you find out what your triggers are if you continue to have problems. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi E.,

Headaches are symptoms of so many things you need to retrace your steps and see if anything was out of the ordinary. Did you clean something for the first time in a long time, an air vent behind the sofa or a moldy piece of tupperware in the back of the fridge? Did you visit a place where allergens, mold or heavy chemicals could be found? Did your 5 year old slug you in her sleep in the middle of the night without you knowing??? (Sorry, has happened to me, lol) Are you taking any medications that could cause it?

If it's sinus, inhaling melaleuca oil will help heal as it is very aromatic. If it's caused by a head trama you may need to wait it out and check for concussion. I do know that Ginger supplements are good for a headache as is Feverfew or Magnesium. Could it possibly be hormonal? That's a different story. Change your environment and see if the pain lessens or worsens.

I always suggest chiropractic care for most ailments and it has always helped with any headache in our household. If you don't have a good one go to www.upspine.com and look for an upper cervical specialist in your area. They target the immune system specifically and I've found the better the chirpractor the less expensive they are.

Regards,

M.

If none of the medications have helped any of the pain, I would go to the dr. I had a recurring headache behind my eyes and at the back of my neck after Christmas. I am not prone to headaches so it caught me off guard. My energy level fell and I felt like I couldn't function through part of my day. The dr put me on an antibiotic and a nasal spray for sinus (even though there was no runny nose or ear infection). He also said that I should find out if I am allergic to anything and find a little more time to relax. I have two boys ages 4 and almost 2. I realized that the lotions I received for Christmas were causing a lot of my headaches. I continued on the medications and my energy level returned and the headaches are gone. I had worried myself into thinking the worst when, in fact, it was just sinus.
I hope this helps!

I've suffered with headaches my entire life. Do you have the congestion or runny nose to go with the headache. When my allergies are really bad the pressure is so bad it makes my teeth hurt. You could have a sinus infection, or it could be allergies also. The last time I had a headache it lasted for 7 days. It was so bad I barely got out of bed when I got out of bed I went to the couch. The thing that I did that finally helped was I took Excedrin-the generic from wal-mart. I also put a cool cloth on the back of my neck and one on my forehead. I slept in a dark room for 1 1/2-2 hours. When I woke up I felt better. It was not completely gone but I at least felt human again. Sometimes I go to the chiropractor. If your neck is out of whack that can cause headache also. If you have never seen a chiropractor or it has been a long time they will have to re-evaluate or eval for the first time and they may not adjust you on your first visit. Good Luck

I agree with everyone else go to the dr. But, have you considered it being high blood pressure. Headaches are a sign of that also.

E.,

Lately I've experienced terrible headaches too. It seems that the ones in the "front" part of the head / face region are sinus related. Is there another product you can try? If you do not want to pay for a Dr visit, call the local pharmacy and ask them for over the counter suggestions other than what you have mentioned.

I hope your headache subsides soon. It is difficult to care for children when you are miserable.

Rule out sinus infection with your family doctor and if that does not work call your dentist for a check up. It can be dental problems (it happen to me!), also make sure your eyes are well. If that does not work, an ENT is the next call.

Good luck and get well soon.

Schedule a sick appointment with your primary care physician. There are several things it could be including high blood pressure, sinus infection, etc. I have those symtpoms when I have a sinus infection and an antibiotic usually cures it.
