Hi all! My sister is eggo-preggo! WOO HOO! She's been trying for over a year so I'm super happy for their little family. Anyhoo, She started having some bleeding on Tuesday but not much cramping. Doc said it could be implanting but to have blood work done just in case. Let's make sure you're pregnant kind of thing. So she did & her hcg level came back at 300 on Tuesday. They needed another test done on Thursday to compare & see what her levels did in 2 days. They jumped from 300 to 1000 in 2 days. When the doctor read that they said they weren't concerned but would really like more blood work every 2 days and they bumped her appointment up to this coming Wed. Sooooooooo, I know hcg levels will generally double every 2-3 days in the beginning & hers did more than triple in 2 days. Is that an early sign of twins? They certainly run in the family on both sides so none of us will be shocked. LOL! Thanks Mamas! Hope your weekend is great!

When I found out I was pregnant with my twins, my HCG levels were really high too. They had me come in for an ultrasound right away to confirm there was more than one because the high levels are often indicative of multiples. Whatever the number of babies turns out to be, I hope your sister has a healthy pregnancy!

I asked a question on this same topic a few weeks ago because the PA at the docs office said my HCG levels were extremely high at 6 weeks. When I called her for ultrasound results (I got one early because I had an earlier miscarriage at 6 weeks and was freaking out) she said she didn't have the results and asked how many babies did they see in there? I was stunned, because I only saw one baby and again was freaking out. She called the other day and told me that there really was a twin pregnancy, hence the high levels, but one baby did not develop, the so called "vanishing twin." They saw a second sac that was very faint, but nothing else there. Apparently a "vanishing twin" is more common than we think because most women will wait until 9 or 10 weeks to get blood work and ultrasound and by that time the levels are normal and there is only one baby to be seen. So there is a good chance that she may have twins in there right now. only an ultrasound will tell.

It could, but not likely. I had twins and my Hcg levels were never abnormal. We saw them on the ultrasound, so that and the fact that I had to wear maternity clothes by eight weeks were the big indicators for us. :) If she does end up with twins, it's amazing!

My HCG levels were always really high and generally almost tripled at the beginning. I only ever had one baby in there. it doesn't always mean twins, but often can. With twins strong in your family, it's certainly a possibility.

P.S.
I had my first ultrasound and blood work done at 4 weeks, so we knew from the beginning there was no twins.
