So What Happened?

Ok, so I went to my OB/GYN... He checked me out and gave me a pregnancy test. It came out negative. He didn't give me any blood test. Should I have gotten one anyways? The doctor prescribed me some pills to take so that I can start my menstrual. Guess, I'll just have to wait and see how the pill works. Or if any of you know any other doctor's that I can go to, let me know. Last but not least, I want to thank each and everyone of you that responded to my request. You guys helped me out alot! Thank you...

I suggest you go there and request a blood prego test. I saw on the discovery channel that this one woman did'nt even know she was pregnant until she was in labor and was living in her dorms. she gave birth to the baby by herself and then brought it to the hospital. Is'nt that weird? Well I know it's true because it was on discovery. otherwise I would'nt have belived it.

Yes, go to an OB/GYN. Could it be Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? I have that and have very irregular periods.

You should really set an appointment with your OB as soon as possible.

It's true that not all pregnancies are alike, but even if you ARE pregnant, a mentsrual period that lasts for 4 months is very irregular...

I think your Gyn is the 1st place you should go. They would be the most likely person who would be able to help you.

I had irregular periods, and when I casually mentioned them to my regular physician...she freaked! I don't want to scare you, but she checked for cysts on my ovaries, via an ultrasound, and asked me ALL kinds of questions, in order to thoroughly understand how she could help me. Every woman is different, however, we all need to make sure to take the best possible care of ourselves that we can.
Since you say this is the first time for irregular periods for you, I think your body is trying to tell you something.
Please tell your doctor, your OB/GYN, or both.

I am 23 years old and a mother of a 1 1/2 year old little girl. I experienced some abnormal menstrual cycles after I had my daughter. I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovarian syndrome, although my doctor told that it is rare to get this after having a child. Also I read that thyroid problems can cause abnormalities too. If you are extremely stressed out or have had a significant amount of change in your weight that can also screw things up. My advice is to talk to your doctor. They can run tests and determine what the problem is. Good luck.

Yes, definitely go to your OB/GYN. It could be a variety of things. You didn't mention your age, but I'm in my mid 30's and started missing periods. I was told I'm going through peri-menapause. Are you on the pill? I was also told by my OB/Gyn that sometimes people on birth control for long periods of time can start missing periods.

I quit having a period for 3 months and was not pregnant. I would call your doctor because I ended up having an ovarian cyst. I had no other symptoms of the cyst except not having a period. When they got rid of it my periods went back to normal. Not having a period is a sign of something and you should consult your doctor so they can figure out why.

There could be many reasons for a missed period - pregnancy, thyroid issues, hormone issues ... I would definitely go see your ob/gyn.

sorry, i didnt read your update before replying. I woudl demand a blood test before taking any pill. they shoudl be able to do a panel and check all your homone levels as well to try to figure out what is causeing it. Jus tforcing a period does not get to the root of the problem. I woudl see someone else. consider finding a midwife who does woman care, you will get better treatment.

Hi,

I don't know if this will help, but stress can delay your period. I have had that happen before... You can definitely go to your OBGYN, but if you have a family DR, you might want to start there.

K.,

You should definitely see your OB/Gyn. There are many things that can cause you to miss a period but a trip to the doctor is a great start to figuring it out.

K.,

Go to your OB and make sure there are no complications. This may also be cause do to lack of exercise or too much exercise combined with poor nutrition.

If you would like to see where you stand on the nutrition end, give me a call. I will do a free evaluation and we can make sure you are on the right track there.

Hope this helps

Missed periods can also be caused by thyroid disease and are very common in women; they can make you very sick and miserable. You should see your OB/GYN or a regular doctor. Request a thryroid function test, it's a simple blood draw and if they argue with you go to some one else.
