Hi, I need to childproof my dresser drawers. They are easy to pull out and need somehting to keep it shut from the baby (10months). I've seen the magnetic tot lock by 1th safety. I don't know if it's good. any recommendations would be good. Thank you.

What can I do next?

they are great especially since they dont open a crack, like the regular cabinet locks, where fingers get pinched if the baby starts to open the door, gets fingers in and closes the door. i use them for my desk drawers. also keeps others out of my files! just test them before closing the door, keep the "spot" the same for each drawer or you go nuts trying to find it and if the wood is thick, like desk or dressers compared to cabinet doors, you may need to use the extender metal piece that comes in the kit as the magnet wont reach that far. love them, worth the time to install.

We are using them in our kitchen and like them a lot.
My only suggestion would be to have a bunch of the "unlock" parts in various places. We started with just 1 "unlocker" stuck to our kitchen door. But the layout of our kitchen is such that it was a hassle to go get it for some of our cabinets. Now we've got 3 in our kitchen.

Love my Tot Locks!! Well worth the extra cost. And once your kids outgrow the need, you can flip the switch and not have to worry. Then if a friend comes by with young kids, you can flip the switch again and lock up the cabinets.

I think they are great, my sister and neighbor use them, I have them, but they are still sitting in the packaging waiting for the husband to install them!

LOVE the Tot Locks! Need to follow the directions to install and need a drill and screw driver but relatively easy and VERY effective!!!! HINT: don't loose the magnetic opener or youl never get to your underwear again!!! A.

I love these locks for two simple reasons.

1. They work! (I have cabinets with no handle hardware so these were actually my only choice)

2. They have a simple switch on the inside of the lock so that as your children grow you can simply make the switch to unlocked without having to uninstall them! So even if your kids get older and locks are then unnecessary, you can still lock them for visiting relatives with little ones etc...

Special Note - I asked my sister to babysit once and forgot to tell her how to unlock them! She went nuts trying to figure it out so don't forget to share the secret with anyone who needs to know!

Those locks are awesome, provided they'll attach to your cupboards. (They don't seem to fit all styles...)

And don't forget where you put it on the door, otherwise you can spend 10 minutes just trying to get to your trash can. ;-)

Hi M.-
I work in a childcare center and we use the magnetic tot lock in all of our classrooms for any drawers and cabinets that are in reach of the children. I think they are great for childproofing. I have no complaints about them.

Hi M.
My childproofing days are long gone for now, until the grandkids arrive, so I wasn't going to respond, figuring others can give you better advice than I could in that area, but when I read your "a little about me" note at the end, I had to say hello. Congratulations on your precious little baby girl M.! You are so right, our babies do remind us that life can be so good and they really are such a precious gift. Enjoy each day with your wee one. She will make you laugh and smile so much over the years. Enjoy every minute of it because it goes by so very fast. I love what you said about your baby's toes! I too am a lover of those sweet little baby toes! Aren't they just so perfect?! I love those sweet baby feet! Be sure to read to your daughter every day, starting now. It is such a great way to bond with her and will only enhance her intelligence. The very best of luck to you during these wonderful baby days!
Love, D. N. xo

yes I have & still do.
I find it to be great, just don't loose the lock, put it somwhere safe that you'll remember.
My kids are now 8yrs & 10yrs & I still use it in the snack closet to keep it under control.

we love these, they are a bit harder to install but worth it. Love the "unlock" feature. We keep the key on the sink...it sticks there and won't get lost. We have 1 refrigerator magnet that is strong enough to open these if the key gets locked in the cabinet...my mom does this EVERY time she visits:) Good luck!
