Only get a tummy tuck if you have reached your goal weight and won't be having anymore children. Do not get a tummy tuck if you still have more weight to lose. I interviewed 7 different doctors and chose him for my needs.

These doctors are all great and are board certified. Please view them all. Be prepared that most consultations cost $50- $100 depending on the doctor but it applies twards your surgery.

I had a tummy tuck in August of 2011 and I just had a reduction along with more skin and tissue removal done this past Friday. I would recommend Dr. Dulin at the American Institute for Plastic Surgery in Plano. The number is ###-###-#### if you are interested. He is an awesome surgeon and he cares about his patients. I have not had cosmetic surgery as in tummy tuck, breast enhancements, facial, etc....

BUT... my hubby was in a bad car accident years ago and had some burns on his hands. Dr. Russell Sparenberg was his plastic surgeon and he as amazing. If you don't know about the accident, you'd never notice his hands.

Also, I had 2 small lumps removed which required about 2" incisions. One on my upper thigh and one on my waist. Both in areas that would show up if it was botched.

Dr. Sparenberg did both small procedures in his office and you cannot see then incisions at all.

He has been around a long time and not some fly by nighter in the area. Well respected as well. if I ever did decide to do something, he is the person I would go to, no questions asked.

There are so many options. Partial tummy tuck vs full vs body lift. My mom had a full , a friend is getting full body lift and I'm thinking about a mini tummy tuck. In this area I would only go to Dr. Ken Smart. Pretty much everyone in our family has had something done in his office. They are amazing and the results are phenomenal

I had a full tummy tuck with muscle repair, and liposuction of my upper arms 11/1/11. I'm now 6mos post op, and could not be more thrilled with my results!

Obviously, make sure your doc is certified by the Board of Plastic Surgeons. From there, discuss techniques and get reviews on him/her. Personally, my doctor used the progressive tension suture technique with mine. I had no drains, and never experienced any swelling - at all. I knew what my results were the when I came home from the surgery center. My recovery was quick and easy.

I've read many horror stories about having drains - and my SIL had them with hers. Recovery was longer, and swell hell crept up around the 3 month mark.

It sounds like you are a good candidate since you exercise and eat right, but still need help in the middle area.

I am the publicist for a cosmetic surgeon in Colorado, so I can't recommend her, but she does perform Avelar abdominoplasty, which combines lipo with the tummy tuck which is a little less invasive than a traditional tummy tuck.

The ideal candidate for tummy tuck should meet most of the following criteria:

Is close to her ideal body weight. (within 30%)

Wants to remove specific areas of loose skin or fat that have been resistant to dieting and exercise.

This includes the laxity of underlying muscles due to pregnancy which makes it very difficult for mothers to return their abdominal area to a flat appearance. For these women, the skin and muscles have stretched beyond the point where they can naturally return to their normal location and shape.

At a stable weight for six months or more.

Has good skin tone and elasticity.

Is emotionally stable.

Understands the risks of abdominoplasty surgery and scarring.

Has realistic expectations of significant improvement, but realizes that perfection cannot be achieved.
