Have You Ever Had a Dream That Was Actually a Warning?

When I was 19 my boyfriend (now husband) moved into a house together with my 1 year old. After living there for a few months I had a dream that one of our 3 front windows was unlocked and a guy broke in and raped me. When I woke up I told my husband about it and it turns out that the same window that I dreamed about had a broken lock.
So, have you had a dream that was a warning or turned out to be true?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Oh, LittleEsmom, I dreamed that my DD was a girl the day before my ultrasound and she was a girl. But with my first, I dreamed that she was a boy. :)

With all of my kids I dreamt that I had a baby around me or a doll I would carry around, all of my kids were the gender I had in my dreams.

Before my grandma got sick I would keep having dreams with my grandma and her mom ( who I never met but after my grandma died going through pics I learned it was in fact my great grandma in my dreams) doing things together or being in the same places. I think it was my great grandma's way of letting me know that my grandma was going to be ok after she passed away. My grandma was my everything to me other than my kids.

I dream that I am desperately looking for a bathroom. It happens a lot, actually. My dream is warning me to GET UP or else there will be an accident. I am not kidding. It's been like that since I was about 6.

When I was pregnant my friend told me that in all her pregnancies (she has 5 kids) she would dream about the baby's gender, and with all five she turned out to be right. I dreamed that I gave birth to a girl...a girl kitten, that is. 6 months later I had a healthy (human) boy. So no, I've never had a dream that turned out true!

Yes I have had dreams that were warnings and turned out to be true, but don't forget that your subconscious will blow your fears out of proportion. For instance, the fact that you have a broken lock may have been a message, in fact a warning that you needed to fix this window because some part of you knew, as you slept, that you were not completely safe. But I wouldn't worry and think it means you are going to be raped, just fix the window! If that was me and I dreamed that, I wouldn't sleep well until I fixed it.

That would def. creep me out and i would be getting my window fixed. My husbands dad passed away before we started dating and i never meet him. But when i was pregnant with my first daughter when i was about 8 months along i had a dream about him and it was the first time ever and i think he was checking up on the baby and crazy thing is when i got pregnant with our 2nd i didnt have a dream about him and i had a miscarriage and then when i got pregnant after the miscarriage right around the same time i miscarried with the one before i had a dream about him and he was knocking on the door and i opened it and my husband was on the couch and i said hunny your dad is here and he also had some other guy with him but i couldnt tell who he was or recognized him and his dad just put his hands on my belly and then left. So i think he was blessing the baby and for a healthy baby and she was:)

I have them all the time...both good and bad. But I also have more de ju dreams than I do precognition or alert dreams.

By far the worst was that I dreamt my BFF had died by drowning...short version of my dream was that she was held under water at a huge fountain, by an unknown assailant.
Next morning I call her tell her about my dream and she says "I gotta go, I'm fine, but I gotta go"...

Months, years later she leaves her abusive husband (FINALLY!) and she tells me of a time that he tried to drown her.

More often than not though my dreams a wonderful good dreams. I dreamt once that my daughter was the the sun...and I always say "she's my daily sunshine she makes me happy".

Yes I have had quite a few. I have had dreams or premonitions all of my life that prove to be true. For instance, the other ____@____.com midnight I became overwhelmed with this dream that something had happened to my daughter in her room. I woke up in a cold sweat with heart racing, literally raced into her bedroom and checked on her. She was fine, however upon checking her windows I found that one of them was not locked.

That to me meant that had I ignored the dream as just a silly dream that I was actually placing my daughter in harm's way. Needless to say I listen to my dreams, gut instinct or feelings all of the time.

a few weeks back, i had this random dream that our vet came to our house(he had never been to our house) - 2 days later, one of our dog's died suddenly in the middle of the day, and he came over to pick him up. strangely, he has been here 2 more times in the past couple of weeks, and we have lost a second dog :( he's been our vet for 6 years, and has been at our house 3 times this month - i do think that dream was foretelling what was about to come...

I think our subconscious mind gets a lot of information that we don't even realize. I bet you had seen that the window lock was broken but it didn't consciously register with your brain. So your unconscious brought it back to your attention that way.

Last year I had booked flights to go to Europe to visit my parents for Christmas. About 2 months before we were to leave, I dreamed that we were at the airport and that my son's passport was expired. I checked it the next day and sure enough, his passport had expired just a few weeks before my dream. I'm sure that somewhere in my mind the information about the expiration date of the passport was stored. I thought it was very nice of my dream to remind me to get a new passport for my son and even with enough time that I didn't need to get a rush order.

When I was first pregnant with my daughter, I had a vivid dream that I was sitting with my parents at a cafe, and we had a beautiful little girl with us who was about 3 yrs old. She had long, dark, ringlets and shiny, light brown eyes. I knew then that I was having a girl. And when she was 3 yrs old, she looked exactly like the girl I dreamed about.

I have had these type of dream. Once it was about an uncle and they discovered a different uncle deceased in his home for about a week. Not a good.

Another time we had gotten orders to leave Canada to go to Las Vegas, NV and I had a dream about a ball of flame roaring past my bed which I work up from. About two months later the MGM was on fire and we coudl see the smoke from the house we rented.

There have been other things in my life that I have had a "sixth sense" that have kept my family and me safe. The one that stands out is Lockerby in Scotland. We missed that by 6 days flying out of Frankfurt to come home for Christmas -- it was a feeling I got and I stayed with another airline and not Pan Am.

So yes there is something to this.
