Have You Ever Bought YOURSELF Flowers?

I just did, and Roman got a free balloon... happy mommy, happy toddler!! :)

My husband has bought my flowers TWICE... I don't mean this as a shot to him, and hope he doesn't take it as such (I'm going to say they're for him, LOL)... but after I bought them, that thought did cross my mind. You don't think he'll take this as a bad thing, do you?

Have you ever bought yourself flowers? Did your husband think anything of it?

They're really pretty and smell nice :)

What can I do next?

I pick up flowers for the house occasionally. I don't see that as a big deal.

Why would my husband "think anything" of it?

He's a big flower-sender but I've finally gotten him out of that mode.

When we were dating & he would send flowers, I always thought "whoa...I could have really used that $75!"

Yes I have, we used to have a flower shop on the 1st floor of my office building, so I would occasionally go down and pick something up. A nice way to cheer up a day. My girls and i will do that on occasions for teachers too

When hubby was deployed I did about once a month if not more.
I like flowers. Now that he is home he usually brings them home when the last batch starts to die.
Or my kids will see the flowers die off and then get them while we are shopping.
THey will rub it in Daddy's face if they have to get them before he does. :o)

Well I have rose bushes all over the place so I pick them if I want pretty in the house. One of them is a white climber that I can see when I am doing dishes. You should have see that bush a week before my wedding, a wall of white. I almost just grabbed some of them and canceled the florist. :p

Troy knows better than to buy me flowers. My ex used to do that and charge them to his business. Nothing says romance like making a phone call. :( Yeah kinda ruined me for floral gifts.

Mind you on our second date he showed up with one rose and I nearly flipped with happiness so maybe it is the thought that counts. :)

I am half crazy nothing I do seems to cause Troy to think about it.

I buy myself flowers all the time. I like flowers and like having them in the house. I pick up a bouquet on my weekly trip to the farmer's market whenever they have something pretty.
My hubby doesn't do flowers much either, but my 3 year old son knows that his mama loves tulips and lilies and he demands that daddy get me some whenever he sees them. Smart boy :)

yes, not with a a card or anything, lol. I like flowers and during the spring i have a house full of them. Just like in fall pumpkins and other squash, and in winter poinsettas and evergreen. In the summers i like counters covered in fresh fruit.

Your son's name is Roman?...thats so cool!

I do every 2 weeks when we get paid. I LIKE flowers. I put them on a vase on the table and it just changes the whole downstairs. :)

My husband always buys me 1 rose when he's in trouble. I've grown to hate roses.

I buy flowers at least every three months for the house. I don't think of is as buying flowers for myself, but I guess thats what I'm doing since I'm the one they make so happy. If you're worried about it though, just tell your husband you bought them to make the house pretty and skip the part about buying them for you or him. In fact that reminds me I think i"ll buy some today since we are having guests for dinner. I love dinner guests as an excuse to buy flowers for "the house". Frankly I can't stand when my husband buys overpriced flowers at a flower shop. I love to get mine at Trader Joes and put them in my own vace for a fraction of the price.

The farmers market I go to on Saturday mornings has lovely flowers for $5 a bouquet. I often get them for me and another to take to the nearby cemetary where my family peeps are, so I divvy one up for their little vases on the headstones too.

My hubby gets me flowers..random times, random selections, all the time. Always has. So there is often fresh flowers in my house =)

It's a very European thing. The women come home with fresh bread, fresh cheese, fresh herbs, fresh meat and fresh flowers.

I love to buy flowers! As other mommies have said, I like how they brighten up the place. I am divorced, so no hubby to care. I also buy myself flowers on Mother's Day. I figure it's Mother's Day, I'm a mom and I want some flowers to celebrate the day. I don't care I got them for myself. My son and I celebrate the day! They always make me happy and I think that's what flowers are supposed to do.. The heck w/all the hidden meanings! :-)

Heck yeah! Never from an actual florist because I never have that much disposable income but from the grocery store.. I've bought flowers (expensive ones) for my husband before and he loved it (he was a premier floral designer in hawaii in a past life lol) and sadly, he's only bought me flowers once.. We have different languages of love I suppose lol.. And if your husband takes it as a slight then that just means he's being defensive (meaning he knows he should buy you flowers more). Enjoy your flowers!

I buy myself flowers every week when grocery shopping, especially in the summer! Trader Joe's has the most beautiful sunflowers that look great on our dining table for only $3.99 and they make me so happy whenever i walk into my house and see them there. My husband has only bought me flowers once, and that's because i pretty much told him to. Never again though--i sure wish he would take it as a hint to buy me some!

I buy myself flowers often. I prefer clipping them from my own garden, but with the horrible drought we're having, I don't have very pretty flowers this year. My husband buys me flowers from time to time, also. I love having flowers in the house. :)

OH yeah my 3 yr old daughter and I love to go through the flower department at the grocery store and find a pretty bouquet while looking for dinner. It's great.

However I would never send myself flowers, that is a bit weird.

Before we got married...we had just moved in together and we were grocery shopping. At this point he was paying the rent and I paid for groceries since I was still looking for a job (I moved two states away)...

Walking in the store he walked by the flower department and grabbed some daisies and said "these are for you!"...oh how sweet, right?

Standing in line and loading the groceries I left the flowers in the basket since I assumed he was buying them. NOPE...he put them on the belt last and they were charged to me.

I said "Oh how nice, I bought myself flowers!"...everyone around us laughed hysterically! It's the thought that counted right?

I'm not a "flower" kind of girl so I don't get them often...

There is nothing wrong with buying yourself flowers. Nothing says that you must only receive flowers from someone else. :) Flowers beautiful the home, just like so many other things do. Do you buy yourself candles or other things you think are pretty and nice? If so, think of this as the same thing. Not all men are flowers guys. That's okay. Personally, I would rather if my husband bought me something that will last longer than a few days. But, I do like to have flowers in my home.

Of course, who wants to sit around and wait for a guy to buy me flowers? And when they do, they tend to have bad taste (sorry guys) unless they are rich and can afford a professional florist. I wouldn't worry too much about what he thinks of them since they are, after all, for you!

I buy myself flowers. They are pretty. They make me smile and brighten any room!

My husband doesn't mind that I buy myself flowers, not at all, and it works out b/c he only buys me one type of flower....this way I get a variety:)

Of course!

My husband has bought me flowers once... our first Valentine's Day. He's a very practical engineer and in his mind something that dies within a week isn't worth the money. Romantic, right? He's a generous gift-giver, but not in the floral department.

I LOVE FLOWERS! My MIL knows this and every year has a huge thing of flowers sent to me on my birthday. I love it! I buy them for myself and arrange them on the front table. He will comment on them, but usually something along the lines of... "did I buy you those?" Um, no.

No biggie- he'll probably not even think twice about it. Who knows, maybe he'll remember that you like them and bring some home once in a while!

All you need to worry about is how the flowers make you feel...if your husband feels a way positive/negative hear him out and say aren't they pretty? LOL!!!
