Has anyone used "succesfully" Dr. Landum Shettles method to conceive? I've been trying to pin point my ovulation day with his methods and would like to conceive a girl but nothing yet

What can I do next?

I followed it exactly because I so wanted a girl. My 2nd SON was born 9 months ago. He's a doll. :) My answer--no, it doesn't work.

We didn't try it, but I've read that, although Dr. Shettles claims his method is something like 70-80% effective, scientific studies have shown it to be basically 50/50 regardless of the timing. Wed didn't bother trying to time it (except to fall around ovulation so as to conceive a child of either gender!).

Hi Andrea:

Not sure of Dr. Shettles' method, but I can assist you to prepare a healthy body, mind and emotions to conceive safely, with great love for a boy or girl. Do you know your E-type and G-type status? Basically, your body expresses a certain type of discharge when ovulating, which you can pay attention to and know when to attempt conception.

Let me know if my office can assist you.

All the best,

I don't have experience with it but just want to say "good luck". I am pregnant with my 4th. I have three boys. This is our last baby and we won't be able to find out what we are having until next month. I can't wait!

I tried watching the calendar and most months my cycle is very punctual. Wouldn't you know the time I got pregnant with my 3rd and 4th were months when my cycle suddenly decided to throw me a curve ball? With both of them I got pregnant a week later than I would have normally ovulated. So much for trying to pinpoint days. <sigh>

I just keep telling myself whatever the baby is, it is as long as it's healthy. Yeah there's a part of me that REALLY wants a girl. I always saw myself as a girl's mom but I just keep telling myself that at least my youngest now would have a brother close in his age like my older two are. I just have to trust God has a plan and whatever children I have are the ones I am meant to...doesn't mean I wouldn't love the opportunity to buy dresses... :)

We have two boys, and have somewhat difficulty conceiving (tried 9mos to get our oldest, a year for our youngest) so I bought the book after our youngest was born, read up on it. We tried to get pregnant for 18mos and then decided to adopt. I just couldn't stand not being pregnant every month.

I've had most of my friends be successful for a boy, but none be successful for a girl. Its worth a shot, but remember that its still 50/50

We used the method, successful for getting pregnant but not for choosing sex, at least for us. The girl we tried for is a healthy 5 yr old boy named Eli...but I had surprise twin girls a year after he was born...no method needed:) So be careful what you wish for:)
I would recommend reading about the fertility awareness method, I think the book is the same name...just google "fertility awareness method"...I found that the most helpful with pinpointing ovulation which helps with the Shettles method...sometimes:)
