We will be moving in a couple of months and we are thinking of using the PODS or similar companies. I would like to know if any of y'all have used these companies for moves from one city to another(about over 200miles.)
1. Who did you use and why
2. how was the service
3. was it is easy to order the pods, have them removed, stored, and then sent to your
home?
4. were you happy using the pods
5. were you disappointed and why
6. if you had to move again, would you use the pods again or resort to using movers?

I am sure I'm missing alot of other questions but I think this will get us started. Thanks for all the help,

BB

Hi
About five years ago, when my mom was downsizing and moving to a smaller home, I rented a POD and had it shipped here to Round Rock. We are not professional packers and have no experience in shipping things freight. I rented the smallest POD and I was not able to fill the entire POD. We tied down the cargo but things still shifted a bit. Even so, there was no major damage to anything. A few things looked a bit squished, but all the contents were whole. I thought it was expensive at the time. I had little time to find a cheaper way to move the items. They delivered when they said they would so we had lots of time to pack it. They picked it up when they said they would. My husband took delivery in Round Rock and it arrived home before me. I unpacked it when I got home and they took the POD away right on schedule. All in all I was happy with my POD rental. I don't know that I would move an entire house this way. Most of my items were in boxes. Furniture is a different story. Good luck.

We used pods to store a small houseful of furniture for about six months. We then moved from San Diego to Austin, TX. When we received the pod, almost everything was damaged.
Even the outside of the pod was damaged! It looked like it was dropped. We paid extra money for the insurance. Initially, they did not want to cover a penny of all the furniture that they damaged. After six months of fighting with them and hundreds of phone calls, they finally remimbursed for the damages. I would never recommend pods to anyone. That's just my experience!!

Hi,

My family and I moved here last year from Utah and we used PODS. Unlike the last response, we had a good experience.
There are risks with every moving situation and company.
They were very convenient, we did not have a place to move them to immediately, so they can store them which is nice.
The hardest part is having to load them yourself and making sure everything is packed well.

They were good about getting them here when we needed them and picking them up.

The cost seemed worth it. Although buy your own locks, it is cheaper.

There are a few different companies, so compare prices.

We plan on moving back to Utah and will use PODS again.
Any more questions, let me know

I moved 1/2 way across the country last year and wish I used the POD. It was a little more than we thought it should be and decided to pay more and have movers do the work. Well, we were the 4th and last family to smoosh onto that moving truck and 7 days later we were the last on the truck. My stuff was everywhere! They had to unload some of my things to get other peoples boxes off the truck, then they reloaded my boxes I don't know how many times. I complained but they said this is how it is done. Things were smashed and I still am not sure I got all of it. I hated knowing someone had been "through" my boxes and furniture.
If we ever move again I will be using a POD and locking it until it lands on my new driveway.
This is only my experiece I am sure people move with movers very happily.
Best Wishes,
M James
