Hey all,
I was browsing through babies r us yesterday trying to pick up some things before our second is born in early July. I wanted to start using cloth diapers with our second, my husband on the other hand, was grossed out and vowed to never change a diaper if I choose to go that route (I know so dramatic). So yesterday I saw the g diapers and talked to him about them last night. He asked me to look into them, make sure they don't clog up the toilet etc. So anyone have and expieriances with them good or bad? Also, I saw that the starter package comes with 2 covers, how well do they work? Are 2 covers enough or do you need more. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have never used G Diapers but like others have said the new cloth diapers are really very simple. Even my wimpy husband had no problems using Bumgenius diapers. He isn't fond of the prefolds and covers but those are super easy too! If you have any questions feel free to ask! My daughter potty trained herself at 2 and I kinda miss the diaper thing :)

For the price of gDiapers and the continual purchasing of the inserts you might as well go all cloth. Modern cloth diapers really aren't that bad! They actually are great. I started using them with my daughter last fall and now my husband loves them! He was sceptical at first, but they save us money and they don't smell like disposables do, and he finds them simple and easy to use. A good pocket diaper or even a diaper shell system like the gDiapers that is instead completely washable with snap-in washable liners is very cost effective and can easily be used with any family lifestyle. It isn't gross!

I use G Diapers. I really like them...but they are more work than disposables. You will need at least 6-7 covers...at least one a day. More liners. Poop will get on the plastic liners each time. You can order the liners on the web site...they are not yet sold in retail stores.

You can order extra covers on the web too...in cute colors...but it is cheaper to buy the starter set covers.

They do flush...but you have to rip them and swril it around the toliet to break it up...I usally throw them away.

I had my twins in disposable during the day at day care, and then I would use g diapers after work and weekends. I made do with about 3 covers per child. I liked them a lot. Try the trial pack before buying a bunch of them.

I use cloth but I also tried gdiapers thinking they would be a great alternative. I didn't like the gdiapers because you have to swirl them around in the toilet and break them up...and the absorbent layer shifts around while the baby wears it and the poop smears all over the cover, so you end up washing diapers anyway! It is equally, if not more, gross than cloth diapers. I also found that the covers are kinda flimsy. I just recommend cloth...
I use chinese DSQ prefold cloth diapers and Bummis covers. I also got a diaper sprayer for my toilet, to help with the gross factor and I absolutely recommend it!! I love cloth and I feel good about saving money, and not filling up landfills.

Good luck!!

S.,
Have you considered a cloth diaper delivery service?
Service is $23.00 a week for unlimited diapers.

HI S.,
I am grandma, and I don't know what g diapers are, but my daughter and several of her young mom friends have just switched to Bum Genius for their babies- they just love them. They are microfiber and stuff just rolls off of them- you can get paper liners, too. My daughter does a load of diapers every other day and just lets them air dry on a rack- seems very easy. So good luck, and Shaklee's biodegradable laundry products work sooooo well on them, too. Just a tiny squirt of Liquid Laundry and a little Nature Bright and they look brand new. Let me know if you need more information.

Hello. I just wanted to point out that my husband was against cloth diapers in the beginning. I took him to Tree City Diapers (The Little Seedling) in Ann Arbor and he was surprised by the choices. They really aren't that bad. It also helped to tell him that they are WAY cheaper. He was hooked. Plus, I do about 90% of the diaper changes anyway. Just wanted to point it out. Good luck.

Go cloth! All-in-one cloth diapers are actually much simpler than G-diapers. BumGenius are popular - there are several brands. The changing process is EXACTLY like a disposable diaper. Dispose of solids in the toilet but most folks do this even with disposables (and no swooshing around like Gdiapers). Then toss them in the laundry! Done!

If you are in or around Ann Arbor go to Tree City Diapers (also called The Little Seedling). They can show you ALL the different varieties. You can order online and find great deals.

Of course, you can also do a combination and those times when Dad will be alone he can use disposables if he prefers.

good luck!
