There are 2 small ones adjacent to the gestational sac. They say that they are very small but if there is any bleeding to call the drs office right away. Searching on the internet is not so helpful. Have you or someone you know had these? What was the outcome? Thank you

So What Happened?

I am so very thankful for everyone who took the time to send a message to me...THANK YOU!!! You really helped me knowing more and reassuring that it wasn't as bad as I thought. I am thrilled to say that they did go away and we are still blessed that the baby is doing terrific, growing and they have done other ultrasounds and everything is going beautifully!! Thank you again

I had the same thing during the early part of my pregnancy. I also went through IVF and had weekly ultrasounds. I was put on bedrest and told to stay in bed until I had 3 days of no visible bleeding. This is our first pregnancy. I did my best to stay in bed as much as posssible as an extra precaution. My last ultrasound showed the bleeding was completely resolved. I was still not allowed to exercise for another month. I finally get to start aqua aerobics tonight! Yeah! It is frightening, but don't stress yourself out too much. It'll most likely resolve itself on its own with time and rest.

I had two and everything turned out fine. They were discovered by an ultrasound at 8 weeks. I was told no sex and no exercise until they were gone which happened at about 18 weeks. I had a beautiful baby boy 8 weeks ago. Congratulations!

I had one that was found at 5 weeks, discovered after I started bleeding. I bled pretty consistently for 12 weeks and the doctor had me go in every week for ultrasounds. The ultrasounds were mostly for my peace of mind to continue to confirm viability since the bleeding was freaking me out. I was put on "pelvic rest" for the entire first trimester. Am now at at 20-1/2 weeks and things are looking good. The hemorrage got smaller as the pregnancy progressed and eventually it just thinned away. There is some risk of miscarriage, especially if associated with other things (like a larger than normal sac-which I also had). My doctor didn't seem overly concerned, but was aware of how scary it is especially if there is bleeding/spotting. Try to be positive and hopefully things will work out. Ask your doctor if its possible to have an ultrasound, if only to give you some comfort that things are progressing as they should. Good luck!

Hi kimmy,
I had a subchorionic hemorrhage show in my first ultrasound, and it was about 1 cm in size. Which, at first didn't sound too large, but when you considered the baby was only 5 cm, it was pretty darn big!!

Luckily, for me it did heal or reabsorb prior to my follow up ultrasound. The hemorrhage was found at 10 weeks and my follow up was at 14 weeks. My doctor was helpful, and encourageing. In fact, the only reason I really knew about it was becuase I did have some bleeding a couple days after my initial ultrasound and they told me then about this "complication".

From what I was told, which of course varies from doctor to doctor and patient to patient, nothing I did caused this, nor could have prevented it. I was on no restrictions of any kind. I was free to pick up my 2 y/o at any time - no weight restrictions.

The bad news, was according to my doctor, she said of her patients, about 1 in 9 miscarry who were disanosed with this condition. However, she said that not enough it known about this to know if it is cause of a miscarrige, or if it is a precurser to other underlying issues. In fact, she said that she never studied this when in med school - and she's been a doctor for 12 years!

I hope some of this is comforting. I know how frustrating it is when you have no control. Good luck, and best wishes for a healthy pregnancy!

I also had this during my pregnancy. The nurse described it as something like a bruise on my uterus that will just heal itself in time and will not harm the fetus. She was right. While I was not put on bedrest, she did recommend just taking it easy and resting througout the day. Eventually, the bleeding or spotting subsided and it cleared up. I carried healthy twins to full term. I hope this clears up for you soon. I know it's hard to not worry. Best of luck to you. Take care and Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I had one with each of my pregnancies, both of which resulted in healthy babies with no issues either w/babies or pregnancy. They resolved sometime early in the second semester and I did not have to do any bedrest or any other precautions and was not considered high risk.

I did have quite a bit of cramping and significant bleeding both times, but no other problems resulting from it. I was terribly worried about miscarriage but was told unless I was soaking pads every 15 minutes that it was not really as much blood as it looks like and not to worry.

Also, be sure to take iron in your prenatals or ask if you need some extra, so you don't get anemia. I took Floradix (liquid and doesn't cause constipation) which you can get at Whole Foods or vitamin stores or drugstore.com.

Try not to worry- the majority of pregnancies go very smoothly and remember, before ultrasounds and internet and all, we would have just let our bodies do their things.

Hugs,
M.

I had one with my pregnancy and it resulted in a healthy baby. Was on modified bed rest off and on, but the bleed cleared up on its own around 20 weeks. Good luck!

I had one with my second son. I was placed on bedrest but only because I was high risk from the start (lots of uterine scarring and was told I'd never get pregnant again). It pretty much cleared up around 20 weeks. I did have my son prematurely but again, I had underlying issues that contributed to that.

So you're not bleeding? That is a good sign. I had spotting every day throughout. I wouldn't worry too much but do call if any spotting starts.

I had one in my 5th week and go for ultrasounds once a month to monitor it. I am now 13 weeks and so far so good. The Dr. does not seem too concerned at this point. I still have some spotting but nothing major like in the 5th week. I am still a nervous wreck everytime i see it. Keep praying and hopefully everything will be okay.

Hi Kimmy,

I had a pretty large one with my second pregnancy that was about 4 times the size of my child ( I was only 6 weeks along at the time). They placed me on bed rest for a week to make sure that the bleed did not get any larger. I had no actual bleeding visible to me (if you know what I mean), it was just visible on the early ultrasound. We did IVF so they checked me weekly with ultrasounds. The bleed disappeared within three weeks, but the OB/GYN kept me off of exercise, heavy lifting and intercourse for another four weeks. Everything went perfectly fine after that and my little one is now two years old. Get some rest and follow the doc's orders exactly. I hope all goes well for you.
