Hello mommies :) I am in the planning stages for a benefit for my mother. She's been in and out of the hospital since last July and they can't figure out what's wrong with her. She's been on oxygen full time since early August, and still has breathing issues and stomach problems. The medical bills are really piling up. I've helped all I can but want to do so much more. Has anyone planned a benefit for someone, or know someone else who has? Any advice would be great! Thanks!!

What can I do next?

"Max" at the Wagon Wheel is wonderful about benefits. I believe he supplies the spaghetti and salad and you get the flyers out telling what the benefit is for. You can call him and tell him that R. and Breeze suggested you call him. Tell him you are not sure what to do and I would just bet he would help you.

Make sure you use the newspapers for advertising, along with hanging flyers in local businesses. Let me know how this goes for you. I'm pretty good at this so if you cannot get it together email me and I will see what I can do to help.

Hi J.!

I helped a friend plan a benefit. She held a silent auction (all donated items) and made over $10,000 doing so. Get a local restaurant to help out on this. My friend did this at a local pub and they were great about everything. They even had a special that night where if people ordered the hotdog meal then all the proceeds went to the benefit. She also had a 50/50 drawing. It was a great turnout BUT A LOT OF WORK. Get some close friends and family to help you out. Make sure you advertise it in the paper and local radio station if at all possible. The more people that know about it the better. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I have never planned a benefit. I would think that if you kept your mom in mind and do things she would like you will be good. I did want to let you know that I have the ability to do fundraising through my business. I would donate 15% of the profits to your mothers medical bills. I only make 25% so you would be getting the majority. You can check out my website at www.thebodyshopathome.com/web/aoaks. Let me know if this is something you are interested in.
Good luck to you.
