I am wonering if anyone has had a hysteroscopy-to find out why they have had many misscarriages? My Dr. wants me to take NorQD for 5 days to keep the lining thin and she says lots of women get pregnant right after- because it does not stop ovulation from occuring. I am just wondering if it is safe and does your body bounce back very quickly ? And... did anyone get pregnant after? I am retiscent to take any drugs,I have done acupuncture, herbs. Thanks

I had a hysteroscopy to discover why I was having miscarriages at nearly 41. While I don't remember what the hormone was called, I took Progesterone to thin the lining and Estrogen to build it back up post procedure. Although I was into natural remedies too (acupuncture, herbs, special diet, etc.), I knew this was important for my particular procedure.

I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a year after the procedure. My first.

I don't know anything about the drugs and such but just to note, my mom had me when she was 40 after having a couple miscarriages. It can still happen :)

Hi Liza,

I have had a hysteroscopy and did get pregnant right away after trying for 18 months. I carried my beautiful son to full term. I do not recall if I did take the NorQD or not, but it is possible (My son just turned 4). But the procedure itself was very easy and I had virtually no down time afterwards. Maybe just that day I believe with slight cramping, but not even as bad as a normal period.

In my case I had the hysteroscopy because I had had a still birth in my 8th month, then several miscarriages, and they needed to see what was going on. Luckily they were able to spot the problem, and I conceived shortly thereafter.

I am also 41 and I think it is never too late to try. I wish you all the best for baby number 3!

Good luck!

Hi Liza,

I'm not sure if a hysteroscopy is the same thing as a hysterosalpingogram but I have had that (where they shoot dye into your uterus and fallopian tubes to find out what's going on). I did in fact get pregnant after the procedure but I still had another miscarriage (I had 4 in total). It wasn't until my new doctor (after switching MD's because my first fertility Dr. misdiagnosed me and I had 2 more) discovered the real cause of my recurrent miscarriages that I was able to get pregnant and carry my daughter to full term. You didn't say how soon into your pregnancies that you miscarried. I had a condition called lupus anticoagulant which is not at all like the disease Lupus. What happens with my condition is that because it's an autoimmune disease, whenever I get pregnant, my body thinks that the placenta is an injury and therefore goes to clot it which in turn causes the placenta and the embryo to die. I always miscarried in the first few weeks of my pregnancies. The solution to my problem was a simple one. 81 mg. of baby aspirin everyday until my 32nd week. If this is your situation, it may be worth looking into and having your MD test you for lupus anticoagulant. I apologize for this being so lengthy and I hope you achieve your desire for another baby. Best wishes to you and your family.

Liza,

I don't know about norQD. After I miscarried, we waited a while. When I got pregnant again, they immediately tested me for my progesterone levels. When it was extremely low, they put me on progesterone suppositories. When that wasn't enough, they gave me shots daily for the first trimester. I was 38 at the time this occurred, and stayed pregnant with my first child and he's now an awesome 18 year-old boy ready to graduate from high school. For me, it was worth it! For my 2nd child, I was tested and did not need any progesterone...she's 14! Good luck on making a decision.

I had a hysteroscopy before getting pregnant with both my boys. We did ICSI. It can be quite uncomfortable, so I would recommend taking whatever pain meds they offer you before it starts. I was feeling fine by the next day.

Liza, I actually am not familiar with hysteroscopy, but I did take NorQD as my birth control for an entire year while I was nursing (with two different children - so two 1 year stints of using it) and I had absolutely no ill side effects. I'm sorry I can't respond specifically to your question of the two being related, but it served me well. After getting off of it the first time, we conceived our second child after having been off of it for only a month. Granted, I wasn't having the same issues as you, but can only speak for me. Good luck!
