Has Anyone Gotten the Flu Without a Fever and Just a VERY Bad Cough?

I tested positive for the flu this morning which surprised me because I went in thinking I had bronchitis since I didn't have a fever or body aches.
Has anyone gotten the flu without a fever and just this awful chesty cough? I started with a mild cough on Tuesday night and this morning it was pretty bad so I went in. They put me on Tamiflu but I wanted to ask you moms what to expect.
Did you get this cough first and then get worse symptoms like fever and body aches or was it just this cough? How long did your cough last and did anything help to break up the mucus in your lungs?
Just wanting to know what to expect through the weekend!
Thanks so much!
D.

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your responses! I still have my cough as does my daugher who has now been home from school for 4 days because she keeps getting a minor fever and feels yucky with a hurt tummy in the afternoons. We are both going in today for chest x-rays to make sure that it's not the beginnings of pneumonia.
Thank you again!

I am suffering from the exact same thing! I feel like this cough is never going to go away! I really have not been formally tested, but I think that I probably have the flu. I have had my cough for 2 weeks, and I can finally begin to see some real relief. Try Mucinex for the mucus and Delsum for the coughing. This has been somewhat helpful for me and did not make me drowsy, so I can still pretend to have a productive day even with a cough! Good luck and fell better! :)

I had it 6 weeks ago. We didn't get tamiflu which should keep you from getting most of the symptoms. The fever, nausea, and general lethargy lasted 5 days. The cough lasted 5 weeks. Good for you for going in early. :)

Good luck!

We all had it the beginning of July...it started with the cough and about 24 hrs. later we got fever. We were traveling at the time and my son was the only one put on Tamiflu when we got back. I used Mucinex for the cough and tried to drink plenty of fluids. I also was put on antibiotics because the cough in my lungs turned into infection (and my son had strep as well as the flu). I hope you get your cough cleared up! Take care and get some rest!!!

A friend did the same thing last week. Actually she didn't go to the doc until she was "sick sick" but the doc said she was almost over it by then.

If I have to get the flu, that's the way I want it! :)

Hope you feel better soon. God Bless! <><

a few years ago I had a very bad cough. We were getting ready to leave for a trip to Disney so I went to the doctor to pick up a perscription for cough medicine. He swabbed the inside of my nose and said I tested positive for flu and doped me up with all kinds of meds. I never did feel any worse than the cough and was surprised I had the flu. Maybe its just a weaker strain of it?
