My daughter is very smart. She knows what the potty is. She is just scared of it when she urinates in it. I started tryin when she was taking her diaper off by herself. She was about 17 or 18 months old. I dont know what to do because after that I really didnt bother her about it. But I need to get back into it. How do I start her again. I dont know?
i am having a similar problem. My son had started potty training and he went pee on the potty many times, one morning he told my husband he had to pooop and my husband ignored it. so now he fights going on the potty. any suggestions would be great
most pediatricians will tell you to not even bother with potty training til they are 2 years old. When they are ready they will go. relax let her be the one that tells you when she is ready. When you meet resistance it is a clear indicator the readiness is not there. I have toilet trained 4 children. I stressed over the first one til the dr. told me to give it a rest. look online for dr. william sears and his advice on toilet training. Some children don;t get trained til 2 and 1/2, for boys 3. sometimes we want them trained so we don't have to buy diapers, or it is more convenient for us. Take your leads from her.
in my opinion I would not push her, when she is ready she will. Sometimes if you push it has the oposite affect. maybe say to her "hey when you are ready to try the potty let me know and we will go together"leave it in her hands.
Here are a few suggestions 1. Put soap in the toilet and tell her to make bubbles, 2. Put cheerio's in the toilet and tell them to sink the cheerios, 3. Do a reward system it could be a sticker or maybe a starburst or something she really enjoys. 4. Remind her when you charge her diaper that mommy goes poo-poo and pee pee in the potty because she is a big girl, and that she is a big girl too so she needs to go pee-pee and poo-poo in the potty.
