Hanging Tapestry

I hung my son's comforter using two safety pins and two nails. I put a safety pin on each of the top two corners of the blanket (on the back side, facing the wall). Then hammered in two nails and hung the safety pins on the nails. The great thing about this approach (besides being super easy) is if the blanket is crooked, instead of moving the nails you can just move the safety pins.

You can loosely sew a sleeve onto the back of the blanket on top and slide a wooden dowel that is a little wider than the blanket through it. Then you can hang it by tying a rope, yarn, ribbon, etc. on the two ends of the dowel, or just rest the ends of the dowel on two nails. This also helps to distribute the weight of the blanket better so that it doesn't get stretched out of shape. If you want to use the blanket on the bed, simply remove the sleeve. Voila!

I am so not the sewing type so this is what I did. I hung the quilt that no one uses that comes with the crib set on the walls in both of my girls room. I did buy cute flower clips at babies r us and you mount that to the wall and hang the curtain from it... like a big paper clip... the other option, which I did for my second daughters room was... my husband took white finish nails and just tacked it up....same concept of the thumb tacks but it is neater and you wont be able to see the nails. They are tiny and will leave a small hole. Good luck!

I made loops (like tabs from tab top curtains) and attached it to a blanket hanger which is just like a nice wooden curtain rod which is attached with brackets to the wall instead of the window. Good luck!

Hello J.- Congratulations on the way to being a second time mommy!I love tapestries, every room in my home has one! I generally use drapery rods and clip rings. This way i can elegantly display the art and also take it off if it needs a touch of vacuum or dusting, your blanket might even be washable. The catch is to use matching finials (for the rod) and clips-- based on the theme of the room and the tapestry--you'll have so many options in the kids and teens section online or in stores.Hope this helps.Good luck!

Try a curtain rod! Yes, I did say curtain rod but you won't need to sew anything. They sell these curtain rings with clips on the end so you can hang just about anything on a curtain rod and not damage the item being hung. And as a bonus, you can easily take your hanging down to clean or if you wanted to change after a while.

I was thinking of doing this myself....I got so excited to pick out my crib bedding - who knew that they never use it! I love the quilt that I picked out and want to showcase it.

I haven't gotten around to doing it, but I was thinking of using the same brackets you would use to hang curtains in a window - I have simple and inexpensive ones from Ikea, but you could get more elaborate ones if that's your taste. I was thinking about attaching curtain rings to them - which have clips, so you don't have to sew anything to it, and it doesn't damage the fabric. Then you just hang it like you would a curtain.

I would use small nails - thumb tacks are so short, there's a good chance a baby could pull the whole thing down! (The tacks would barely go through the blanket...)

There are teeny tiny nails that they sell specifically for hanging pictures - I would think those would work fine.

I had a quilt that I hung from a rod on the wall. I used these clips my MIL found for me - They are circular and they squeeze open then clip onto the blanket and then the rod goes through them to hang. I was afraid they would "bite" too much into the quilt to create holes but it didn't.

There is another way - where you would have to sew a "rod pocket" onto the back of the blanket and then thread it onto a rod to hang on the wall.

You can always purchase a quilt hanger to mount on the wall, although I'm not sure how much they cost. Otherwise what I've done is sewn a loop of clear fishing line in three or four spots through the quilt, and then hang the blanket with the loops off the nails or tacs or whatever. This way you're not putting such a large hole in the blanket, and if it got pulled on, it shouldn't cause as much damage to it. You can also take it down and use it (if desired). That trick works well if you're hanging multiple items or pictures in the room too, because you can put sort of decorative nails or hangers in the wall up high and adjust the fishing line to fit each item so they are hung evenly.

We went to Home Depot and bought a 5/8" dowel that we painted, and attatched it to the wall with cup hooks into plastic mollies.
At most fabric stores, you can buy clip on rings for hanging curtains. (Like little clothes pins with a ring attached.) We clipped those to the quilt and put the dowel through the rings.

J.: I, too, wanted to do that with a beautiful blanket my daughter's grandmother made for her. Try a crafts store; you can use decorative knobs; or you can use ribbon and a rod. Just make sure to hang it high enough so that when the baby can reach, he/she doesn't pull it off the wall! S.

I got metal hoops, sewed them onto the top 2 corners and then tacked clips into the wall...the hoops rest into the clips---easy and quick---didn't cost much at all, and didn't ruin the quilt.

I have one hung in my baby's room and we just sewed a few pirces of fabric on the back (like loops) and hung it on a rod against the wall. Actually, since I don't have a sewing machine, I asked a local seamstress at my drycleaners to do it -- didn't cost much, less than ten bucks and bought a rod and "holders" at Lowes or Home Depot for probably less than ten bucks, too... but it looks nicer and stays put without falling down and does not ruin the fabric this way.

Hi there, you can check out quilt hangars on artinapinch.net. They have wooden hangars that pinch any quilt or blanket. Enjoy.

I would use a regular curtain rod. Go to a place like Joann Fabric and get some fabric that matches the blanket. Then sow loops onto the top and hang it on the curtain rod.

You can purchase a rack to hang a blanket. The rack has a shelf on top, and a bar below to hang blankets. It's much easier than using thumb tacks and you don't have to put holes in the blanket.

Babies R Us sells quilt clips. They are pretty inexpensive and decorative at the same time!

You can put a curtain rod and some pretty brackets. You'll need create some hidden tabs at the very top of the tapestry to run the rod through. You can also not have the tabs hidden, if you like that better.
