Haircut for Children

Only wanted to stop by and say (as a person w/thick, thick, thick wavy hair) please do not let them cut it short around the ears...you know big bangs? Kinda like a mullet? I had that haircut as a child and my hair turned so incredibly curly and icky around my ears...still this way today! The longer their hair is the less curly it might get...

Your best bet would be to get it layered (but not so short they cant put it in a pony tail) with big layers....do your best to express your fears to the hairstylists...and ask the receptionist who is the best w/thick wavy hair.

Ask other moms that you see (grocery store, sidewalk, daycare) that have kids with similar hair to your kids'. I do that all the time when I see a child with cute hair, outfit etc.

I don't live where you do so I can't give you specific info on salons, but wanted to mention that I take my child to the salon that does my hair...I figure if you like a salon, they probably will do a decent job on your kids hair, right? Then once they have a "good" cut, it's easier for another place to "copy" it.

Sorry this is so late but I LOVE Shear Madness. Our 3-yr-old DD is very hesitant around new people and especially not fond of the idea of them touching her. Shear Madness caters to little ones so they are used to dealing with all scenarios. They also have tons of distractions - the little cars they sit in, the videos they can watch and lollipops for a bribe, er I mean reward. :) Our daughter has had her haircut there 3-4 times and this last time I asked them to cut it into an angled bob and it turned out really cute. Granted, she doesn't have a ton of hair, but they have style books on hand and always have great suggestions about everything from braids to cradle cap. Good luck!
