Gymnastics in Kempsville Area of Va Beach

I have a very active 2 year old, and I want to put her in gymnastics. I am a stay at home mom, and she is an only child, so she doesn't get a lot of interaction with other kids, and she loves kids! But I'm on a VERY tight budget. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about good gymnastics center in the Kempsville or surrounding areas of Virginia Beach, and how much they cost.

What can I do next?

Hey, L.!

We used to go to gymnastics at Gymstrada right near Newtown Rd. We were on a very tight budget too, so, we actually found out about registering for the gymnastics classes through the Va Beach Rec Center (they have a partnership with Gymstrada). It was like half the cost. Very, very affordable. I'm not sure if they still have the partnership, but if they do, it's well worth it. My other friends go to Excalibur Gymnastics...they like it there as well.

There are a number of gymnastics programs in Virginia Beach. Parks and Rec offers 6 week classes at these gyms. You have to pay the annual fee, which is about $55.00, then the gymnastics fee. It is sort of a try it out program to see if your daughter likes it. I think Excalibur is in the Kempsville area. My daughter is in the Ocean Tumblers program. She's not very good, but she enjoys the class. They charge a registration fee of $32.00 per year, and classes are $50 per month. Ocean Tumblers has a gym in Chesapeake. All of the programs are about the same price, I think. You just have to decide what you can afford.

By the way, some preschools offer 2 year old programs, or some churches offer Mom's Day Out if she wants to spend time with other children. I know that is hard to find playmates because so many young children are in day care all day, or are holed up in their houses with video games and TV that you don't even know they are in your neighborhood. That's why my daughter started going to preschool when she was two, so she could have socialization

Hi,

Go to the Virginia Beach parks and Recreation site adn look up classes for gymnastics. It is 43.00 for 6 classes (once a week) and you can pick what location you want to take her too. Ocean Tumblers, Gymstrada etc...The classes are held at the actual gymnastic places not the rec center. The rec c enter also offers a variety of other things you can do with your 2 year old. The have a playtime program where she can interact and play with other kids her age, they do a craft and a snack, and some organized playtime. I would say browse the book (online or order one) and you may surprised how many options there are for very little money (the playtime one I mentioned was $2.00 persession) Also the Library offers some free programs (storytime, learn to love books etc...) so some possible other options there. Hope this helps,

Jen

You should check out The Little Gym in VA Beach or Chesapeake. They have wonderful classes for children. My son, now almost 4 has been going for about 2 years and I just started my daughter who is 7 months. Before age 3, The Little Gym has parent child classes in gymnastics. It is great fun for her and you. It also is an awesome time for your 2 year old to socialize with other kids your daughters age. The Little Gym has a free trial class you so can so what it is all about and see if it is what you are looking for! The website is www.TheLittleGym.com. You can pick either VA Beach or Chesapeake to see when classes are. Good Luck!
