Gymnastics Group for 9 Month Old

I was wondering if there is a tumble/gymnastics-type of class (not so much on the structured class setting, just more of an outlet for energy!) on weekends in SE Portland/Gresham for my 9 month old son who is not yet walking, but loves to bounce and crawl and discover. Maybe a mommy-and-me type of setting?

What can I do next?

you might check with your local parks and recs. They usually have connections with local gyms or even offer classes through them.

I wish I could help, but I live in NW Portland and have no idea what would be in your area. All I know is that the Parks and Rec is a very good place to get some ideas. We belong to Tualatin Parks and Rec and they send us out Seasonal Class Catalogs so we can sign up early and such. It lists out all the classes, times and locations.

Good luck!

I am curious to read any responses that you get. I too, have been looking for some place to take my son, and the best I can find is the community center. However, the child has to be 18 months or older (my son is 16 months). I work FT days, so I can't take my son to the 10-noon play group at the community center. Maybe you don't work days? We did take him the day after Thanksgiving tho, so we were able to check it out. They have lots of cool stuff, and lots of kids running around. The cost was $1. I can't remember the name, but it is the community center off of Cherry Blossom (we are in SE as well). Good luck!

I was also interested in doing something like this for my little girl. However, my husband has a friend who teaches childrens gymnastics, and he told me that she is too young to go to a specific class, the reason she has to be older is because of her attention span. They tend to only be interested for a few minutes and then they are done. He told me to really get her going we have to wait until she is 18 mo.'s before we start with tumbling etc. I think she could do it now, but he reccommended waiting.

I myself have looked for this. I am also a single mom of a 9.5 month old and work full time so I am only able to do things with him on weekends. Unfortunately, everything I found was focused towards stay at home moms and had times during mornings and early afternoons. If you have time during the day to do these classes, look up gymboree. They have classes throughout Portland during the day.

There are, however, swim classes that you can enroll in that are for you and baby. They start at 6 months. I am going to enroll my son in the next seasons courses. Check with your local parks and rec or local swim center.
