We go through the Y - so in addition to paying the family membership fee, we pay about $2/class (which is 45 minutes long). My kids are 3 and 4.

I think it depends on the area you are in and what kind of class it is. I pay $150 a month but my son goes two days a week two hours each day. I think for a 1 hour one night would be about $75 but not positive. I would find the different gyms in your area and check out their prices.

Different gyms, different prices. You'll need to call around. It's not atronomically expensive though.

It depends on the gym and how active your child is with gymnastics.

Some people spend upwards of $5000+ a year for lessons, travel and competition.

If you are only getting into it for fun... you'd pay the normal one time registration fee plus the class fees per month and those vary widely from gym to gym. Make sure you talk to people and get into a good gym based on the quality of the coaches, etc vs going cheap. Around here, a registration is around $50 and monthly classes are around $100+.

If you are looking at gymnastics for cheer purposes, then look specificially at cheer gyms. There is a difference.

The gym my kids go to it is $50 per month for the first 1 hour class of anyone is the family. If I add another hour class for anyone the cost goes up to $84, for 3 hours per week it is $100 per month then any class a member of the family adds is another $15.

So right now I have my 8 year old in 5 hours per week and the 5 year old in 1 hour per week so it should cost me $145 per month but I work in the clothing to store to trade off the cost. And I manage 4 "like" pages on FB for the businesses. So it all adds up. I often have store credit at the end of the semester.

Summer classes cost a bit different too. They have a 1 hour class twice a week. If you miss then when you get back you just double up until you have made up the classes you missed. The same classes are offered in the morning and the evening. The intermediate gym class is at 8:30am and then again at 5pm. The beginners have class at 9:30am or 6pm. The advanced kids can take a 1 1/2 hour class from 10:30am to noon or 6:30 - 8pm. The big kids, the Jr. High and High School cheer squads all come at 7pm until 8pm.

For a 1 hour class twice a week for 8 weeks in June and July it is $145 if you pay in advance. It is $80 per month if you pay that way and then the cost continues to go up the more often you pay.

My 8 year old is on the show team (2 hrs. per week), wants to take regular gymnastics so she can do the uneven parallel bars (1) and then takes hip hop dance (1) and tap/ballet class (1) too. That's what makes up her 5 hours at the gym/studio.

It depends on where you live and where you go. The Y is always going to be less than a private place. My kids go to a gym for a once a week lesson, and we pay roughly $2000/year for both of them, minus July and August. That comes out to about $200/month but only for 10 months, not 12. It's not cheap! We live outside of Boston and things tend to be a little more expensive here anyway, however, they are getting hour-long lessons at a top quality gym with highly qualified teachers. It's even more technical now that they are a little older. I love it and they love it and I would not change a thing! Gymnastics is awesome for kids and I highly recommend it.
