There is a thing called Stroller Strides(you can find on the internet). They walk in malls and it is suppose to be really good. Besides walking they do some stretching things too. Good luck!

Hi
We belong to Lifetime Fitness in Bloomingdale. The kids and I love their daycare. We have been going there for about 3 1/2 years now. They have computers with kids games, tunnels and slides, a basketball court(pretty big), a big main room with a big screen tv that they play kids movies on, or listen to music and dance, TONS of toys and books, and a seperate infant room for those 3 months to 1 year (or walking steady. I kept mine in the infant room a little past 12 months, until they were steady on their feet)My kids would stay there all day if they could. It is included in your membership (2hours/day or per parent)The gym facility for us is awesome. I love it

I go to the World Gym in Palatine(there are several locations). It's ok. My son likes it there. $1/hr, max 2 hrs.

Hey R. -
I'm not sure what area you're looking in, but I go to
Women's Workout World on Lawrence and Rockwell.
I pay 19.95/mo. and I get an hour a day of free child
care during nursery hours (8am-noon & 4pm-8pm m-f and 8a-noon on Sat. The nursery is closed on Sunday). It's not the grearest gym, but I like the diversity and the price. The women who work in the daycare are really nice.

Hi--

I belong to the Leaning Tower YMCA on Touhy in Niles. It is great. The "maze" is their childcare place and my son loves it. They have a ball pit and slides, a video and craft room, and an infant room. You get 2 hours/day free childcare.

Bally gyms have child care. I go to the one in Deerfield and the children only have to be at least 6 months old to go there.

In the city there are several places I know of off hand. The Lakeview YMCA is a great lower cost option (I think about $70 per month, including kid's membership), but the childcare has some limitations. I think it's $3-5/hour. But, they don't change diapers, which for a 10 month old can be a real drag if you're just getting into your workout (Heaven forbid in the pool!) and they come and get you. It's almost impossible to get my kids to go back in after I"ve changed them.
Lakeshore Athletic Club (and Tennis) is a great option. They have childcare in 3 or 4 different rooms for kids of various ages. You can buy a punch card and I think it comes to about $3 for a visit (babies are about 1.5 hour limit. Kids are a 2 hour limit.) They do change diapers and they really make the effort to get the kids to settle down before they come get you. I think it's about $130 per month for a mom and her kids. Dad is extra. There are 3 or so locations in the city. LVAC (Lakeview) is supposed to be open now but I don't know if the childcare is open yet.
Any YMCA is a good option -- they have the AMAZing Kids rooms. Plus, membership there is National. You can go while your out of town to other locations with no problem. Bally's probably also has that.
Good luck. God willing, the weather will start getting a little better and we'll all be out on the lakefront in another month of so!!

I belong to Bally's and they have free childcare. The one on Army Trail Road doesn't seem that great, so I don't often take my kids there. The one is West Schaumburg is pretty good. the hours I was quoted when I signed up for my membership were not the actual hours- so make sure you get that sorted out.

All in all, Bally's is okay, but not great. Hope you find something you like.

Hi R.,

We live in Arlington Heights and belong to Lifetime Fitness in Schaumburg. I've been happy with their child care center for both my children (almost 3 and 1 year). Using the child center is free for members, no extra fees like some gyms. Hope that helps!
