Great Wolf Lodge - Dallas,TX

My husband and I are considering a mini-vacation to The Great Wolf Lodge with our daughter who is now 14 months (and will probably 16 months when we go). I just want to make sure it would be worth it to go even though she is so young. Is there much to do with a young toddler? Do they happen to have child care? What is everyone's take on the resort?

What can I do next?

We went a few weeks ago for the weekend. My 5 year old loved it, my 3 1/2 year old girl was overwelmed with the noise, strange people & caos... What I have to say is I am not a fan because both my children lost their entrance to the pool bands on the first day and were charged $30 each for the use the next day... even though we got this benefit as part of staying there. My advice to anyone who goes is expect to pay double as everything is way overpriced! Having cleared that up my son loved it.

For the expense I would hold off until she is old enough to remember it. We took our 5 and 2 year old along with our 6 month old last summer and while they all had a great time and there was plenty to entertain them I think older kids will get more bang for your buck.

They do have a toddler pool with things to climb on and play with in the indoor pool/slide area. I honestly don't think I would go with just a 16 month old. It is definitely geared toward older kids so unless you want to sit in the toddler pool while your husband slides (or vice versa)I would do something else. They do not have childcare, per se. They might be able to refer you to a service but if you are going to do that I think you would be better off going to the Gaylord Texan if you just want a mini-vacation. The have an awesome spa and some great restaurants. My husband and I have gone there a few times. Great Wolf Lodge is awesome (can be very loud and chaotic though), but I would wait a few years so that you and your child can really enjoy it. Good luck!

I agree with the other posts to hold off on the GWL. We took our daughter last summer when she was 16 months old, and she really wasn't old enough to enjoy it. And it wasn't much fun for us, either since we could only do the big slides one at a time while the other was with the baby. It is a nice resort, but I think it would be a lot more fun for families with children 5 and older.
