Good Swim Lesson Place for a 4 Year Old in NW Burbs?

I currently send my son to the Bartlett Park District and their classes have been less than impressive. I am looking for a place to send my son for swim lessons where they actually do things with them to teach them to swim. My son is comfortable in the water and knows very basic things like kicking and arm circles, but that's about it.

Thanks.

Norris center is in St. Charles and it's a good place for lessons. Do you belong to any gyms or anything? STC is a serious swimming town. I swam for them and for west chicago. I'm a coach for the Oswego Delta swim team. What is the age of the individual currently teaching your child? What certifications are they required to have at your pool? When you start a swim class the teacher should be able to give you a list of everything they need to learn in that session. How many kids are in the session at a time? These are things you need to ask prior to signing up. If you are concerned maybe you should get provate lessons. Kids at age 4 have a very small attention span. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Good Luck!

My kids have been taking swim lessons at Chicago Swim School since a year ago, fall. They only have 4 students in a class and 1 instructor, and they do teach the kids to swim. They mostly teach to the kid, not "the level." So if your child does well, they will start working on skills from the next level without changing classes. Before that, my daughter had been in Mt. Prospect park district for over a year at the same level with minimal progress. They have grown a LOT since I've enrolled them at the swim school. My kids are 4 and almost 6. The swim school recently changed ownership (this past spring) but the curriculum and many of the teachers are the same. The first owner really bent over backwards to accommodate the students' needs and families, and we got a bit spoiled. The new owners don't really seem to know the kids or families very well, but they have tried to accommodate when possible. They are located in downtown Arlington Heights-indoors in a warm-water pool. Hi K.!

I know that the Centre in Elgin has semi-private lessons in the winter where they only have 4 children per class. I signed my kids up because they took lessons at Wing Park pool during the summer and loved them. The Centre is similar but indoors.
