I live in Bee Cave and I am looking for an area on Lake Travis (beach) to take small children to. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

Volente Beach is great fun for kids and you can bring in your own coolers and picnic baskets.

Pace Bend park on Lake Travis has some camping spots (and day camping too) for little children. They have several little coves with little to no "wake" for the safety of the little ones. I also like Pace Bend because it is not near the docks or any major boat traffic. The coves there are great for family swimming and night fishing.

we call the area " the flats." if you go to pace bend park, after you pay you take an immediate right, then turn at the last bathroom on the right before the road ends (and you have to turn left--that means turn around!).
it is a hufe "peninsula" area called the flats. people pull their cars right up to the water and little ones can wade/ sit in the water. the water is warm. we camped with my 3 yr old and my then 11 month old and he had more fun just crawling around in the sandy dirt next to the water.
have fun!

Lakeway Park is a good place to take little ones; there is a playground, and pavillion area at the entrance, and then a path down through the trees to a nice grassy area and the water, which has a shallow, sloping entrance. There are also grills, a vollyball area w/sand, and a dogpark.
You get there by taking 620 to Lakeway Dr., turn right on Lohmann's Crossing, and take a right onto Hurst Creek road. The park will be about a half mile down on the right. There is a small fee if anyone's in the booth; I have never seen anyone yet in 2 years. (Lakeway residents have a sticker and are free.) hope this helps!
