Hi - Try Lake Lawn Resort - 90minutes away - Golf,Mini Golf, Indoor Pool, Ice Cream, Deli, restaurants all on the premises -you can park and never get back in your car.

Lake Geneva (downtown) is 10 minutes away -you can visit here but avoid the traffic and congestion by staying in Delavan.

Enjoy!!!

Hi A.!

We just recently went up to Lake Geneva for two nights staying at Timber Ridge Lodge- it has a fairly decent sized water park, rooms were nice with kitchens, hot tub, fireplace and balcony and it isn't a bad drive at all. Price was $189/night.

Whatever you do, enjoy!!

We just got back from Michigan, along the lakeshore. It only took 1 hour 40 minutes to get there. Coming back was another story due to Chicago traffic. We stayed in Stevensville and visited St Joseph, Benton Harbor, and Coloma for the Deer Forest. We also went to Warren Dunes. You can Google Southwest Michigan for a site about things to do.

I remember going to Galena as a tween. It was really nice! We didn't spend the weekend; just took the train up for the day. I definitely recommend it!

There's always the excellent option of booking a room in a downtown hotel & seeing the sites of Chicago - Millennium Park, the museums, the shops, Navy Pier. I've wanted to do that with my kids for a while, it'd be so cool to just stay in the middle of it all.

Have fun!

We've been to Timber Ridge Lodge and resort in Lake Geneva. they have very nice suites, decent indoor water park, etc. and they've been running some half way decent deals.

Hit the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana tourism sites run by the state governments. There you will find LOTS of cool road trip ideas with listings of places to visit, sights to see and suggested routes. WGN ran a series of "road trip" features and their web site did have have this info as well. Places like Baraboo Wisc (home of the Circus), "Little Norway", Amish country, as well as natural places like Starved Rock, Kettle Moraine and others are relatively in-expensive travel spots that offer plenty of culture or natural sceneary to enjoy.
