Hi Mamas,

I have had such good luck on this site I thought I would try again! I am looking for a place to purchase a twin bed and dresser that is good quality without paying a fortune. Is there any such place in the Metroplex? I am in the Carrollton area, but willing to drive for a great deal!

Thanks, A.

What can I do next?

We bought my 13 yr old daughter's furniture from Haverty's when she was a baby. It is solid wood, good quality but not the highest quality we prefer because we knew it would get banged up a little, etc as she grew up.

It is still a nice looking set and we certainly got our money's worth. It still looks nice enough that she will be able to take it to college and on with her if she wants to.

My opinion with Ikea is that you can get something that will work for a while then you will have to replace it due to the quality. It is not made to last a long time. It is great store for a short term furnish of a dorm room or something like that.

Other stores that have good items are Weirs, Robb and Stuckey and the Amish Furniture Showcase.

Haverty's is a middle of the road type store. Good luck!

We have a cute dollhouse-style trundle bed that we are going to sell. My daughter is going to middle school and it's just too young for her now. It's in great shape. I'll send you a photo if you are interested!

I agree that IKEA is good if you are looking for something to last for a few years and not to last until they leave for college. My three year old twin boys are sleeping in beds that we bought at IKEA and will until around 5 or 6 when we are ready to give them nice bigger boy type rooms. We paid about $600 for both beds (along with the special mattresses for the expandable beds we chose)and a night stand. We're just continuing to use the dresser/changing table combo from their "baby" days. Anyway, we've been pleased with our choice especially considering it was never mean to be a permanent thing. They are holding up well, not a single complaint thus far.

I would suggest IKEA in Frisco.

Sometimes you can get good deals on craigslist. It's like an online garage sale. It's not all junk...sometimes you find a treasure for a reasonable amount. I second IKEA( www.ikea.com ). Great place for kid furniture. They can be rough on it and you don't have to freak out about how much you spent on it when the crayon hits the top of the dresser. :) Ashley furniture has a kids showroom in their store and Rooms to Go has a Kids store ( www.roomstogokids.com ) Hope this helps!
