We have tried using a curling iron and the curls stay fall out almost immediately and i also dont like using heat methods on her long pretty hair!

Do yall have any good no heat methods that will last at least 3 hours? she has her first school program tomorrow and halloween parade :)

So What Happened?

thank you for all your amazing suggestion!!! I youtubed it and found a video that showed how to make sure the hair is damp and you put moose on a little piece of hair wrap it around your finger then secure it with bobby pins and you can either make them sleep in it or wait a couple hours until the hair is dry and then you take them out! we decided to do a test run and of course i didnt really have time to let the hair dry completely but i took them out and 5 hours later her hair still has that curl to it :) THANK YALL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried braiding it while wet at night (after shower) and then leaving it in all night? OR while damp, use socks, and roll it in them then tie the socks and sleep in that? Good luck!

Try braiding it in big braids while it's wet. Use a blow dryer to make sure it dries overnight. (sometimes braids will still be wet the next morning).

I just saw that that's what D.M. suggested. May I say that great minds think alike!

My youngest has long, straight, fine hair too. Curling irons do not work on her either.

We use the foam curlers you can get at the drugstore. Have her wash her hair and blow dry until it's just a tiny bit damp. Roll up in curlers tight twisting the ends a little when you start to roll. Tie a scarf around her head so they stay in place when she sleeps.

This method gives my girl big bouncy curls, we call it her bouncin' & behavin' hair do, super cute!

Has she ever slept in wet braids?
Those come out very close to "curls" and that's the only thing that works for my daughters. Their hair is long and thick so they need like 6 or 7 braids for it to work.
Unless...
you decide to do the curling iron/hairspray thing.
When my youngest danced in the Nutcracker she was required to have ringlets.
What a nightmare.
But thirty minutes, one very hot curling iron and at least a half a can of hairspray later she looked like a perfect doll :-)
The key is spraying it before, during and after the heat.
It ends up feeling like a stiff wig but it works!
Look it up on youtube if you want specifics...that's what I did.

Your only option may be a wig. My hair is, and has always been, straight and fine, with little to no texture. It does not hold a curl, especially if there is any humidity at all. If it is relatively dry where you are, your best bet is a curling iron or hot rollers followed by lots and lots of hairspray.

All I can say is I wish you the best of luck. I know when I was a kid (and had super straight, super fine hair) even up through 8th grade my hair wouldn't hold a curl. We're talking using head curlers and a TON of hair spray and the darn curls STILL wouldn't hold the whole day... *sigh* Of course, now, my hair is this irritating in-between. It's not straight, but it's not really wavy, either, and sure isn't curly (but I bet it would hold curls now!).

All of the girls in our ballet studio's version of The Nutcracker who are in the party scene have to have hair pulled back and in pin-curls. The way they do it is with a wig. Here's the YouTube video showing exactly how they accomplish it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezPHH5_4N2E It takes only about 5 minutes and looks adorable.

You can get the wigs at any beauty supply store. The little girl in the video has stick-straight hair, but you would never know it when they get done with her "Party Girl" hair!

If her hair is on the thin side try root powder. Walmart sells one that is really inexpensive. It might be made by Fx.

I love the Bedhead Curlipop curling iron. Here's a Youtube video that shows you the curl it produces. They also recommend a product to use on the finished hair to hold the curl. It is detailed at the end of the YouTube video.

I use curlformers on my daughter. They're mesh curlers that stay on overnight and then her hair is curly the next day. I also use hair spray when I style it and spray gel while it's wet before I put it in the curler. Her hair is stick straight and sometimes there's even a little curl the 2nd day after using them.

If you don't have time to wet it you can curl it with an iron and then immediately put it in a sponge roller or even a pin curl. Leave in for about an hour. The heat will set it.

Sponge curlers!!! Very old fashioned but they ALWAYS worked like a charm. They are pretty inexpensive too, and you should be able to find them in a drug store or place like Walmart. Roll her hair somewhat tightly while it is damp, right before bedtime. Make sure it is not too tight though or she will be trying to scratch at them all night. In the mornign she will ahve ringlets!
