Does anyone know of a good book with helpful ideas/strategies that will help me get my 5 and 1/2 months old son to sleep through the night.

At 2 months he was sleeping from 10pm until 6am. But once he hit 4 months he began to go backwards. He is now waking around 3am for a middle of the night feeding. sometimes he is up around 1 and then again around 4. Any ideas how to help? Any good books that have helped you? Thank you!!

Believe it or not, it's actually not that unusual for your little one to not be sleeping through the night at this age. I would also recommend the book "The Sleepeasy Solution".

I'm also fan of Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. It really helps you understand why you're doing what you should be doing and you can therefore understand your child's needs and fix problems.

Hi C.!
Yes!!! Due to my own fault I could not get my second son to sleep thru the night. At 8 months I finally cried to the dr and he recommended "Sleeping Through the Night" by Jodi (I think her last name is Mindell). She's a sleep specialist affiliated with Children's Hospital of Phila, so that made me feel better that she was local. I read the whole book and followed her advice and literally by the third night, he was sleeping thru the night!!! Good luck!

Hi C. - I cannot stress enough how much "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth helped our family. I had a miserable sleep-resistant first born and by three months was about to go insane. A friend recommended the book and it was just as amazing as she promised. In fact, it was such a godsend that I now give it as a gift to every pregnant friend I have. Good luck!

Hi C.!
I used the Sleepeasy Solution to nip my child's sleep problems before they became a habit. She was 4 months old and decided she wasn't going to nap anymore and started waking up every 3 hrs at night. It sucked!
This book was so easy to follow, it is a quick read, and it worked! She went from not sleeping to sleeping 4 hrs a day (naps 3x / day) and 12 hrs / night. Yay! :-D
I also read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby by Weissbluth. Many people swear by his book. I found him to have a lot of good info on the detriments of sleep deprivation in children but found his method a bit too strict as it didn't take into account that things like developmental milestones, teething and even pooping can all affect sleep. The Sleepeasy Solution offers a more sympathetic approach, especially if you have a problem letting your child "cry it out". Trust me, there is always crying when a child is being "sleep trained" but it is how you go about it that is the key. It is tough but so worth it in the end!!
Best of luck and hope this helps.
R.
