Glider Recommendations

I am a soon to be a first-time aunt. At every baby shower I have been to, moms rave over their gliders. My mom and I want to get a group of women together to get my sister a glider, but the one she registered for is $$$$. Can anyone recommend the one at target, LA Baby Upholstered Swivel Glider? They only have it online and I need some raves in order to justify getting the alternative. Or, if you have a glider that you just LOVE, please let me know! The $$$$ one is $500 and the Target one is ~$300.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We ended up splitting the cost of the crib and bedding. Not my ideal situation, but my sister has been mostly using the bed to feed anyway. She ended up buying her own glider, a less expensive version.

I agree with the previous poster. If you don't have the means to get her what she wants, please give her money to apply towards the one she asked for. I can only guess that she sat in the gliders and chose the one that was most comfortable for her. She will be spending an inordinate amount of time in the glider, and she should be happy with it. I registered for an expensive glider, too, but I did my research (Baby Bargains recommends Shermag and Dutalier) and found that one to be both comfortable and durable. Not all gliders are created equal.

I also have a Dutalier (don't know how to spell it either since I think it's a French Canadian company). Anyway, it's great and of great quality.

I have a Dutailer, as well. My husband surprised me with it and the matching ottoman. Both have been used every single day since my dd came along (she is now 15 months and 8 days old). It was expensive, but worth the investment. Large enough to fit my husband (6'2" 250 lbs). The recline function us great! I love it!

I also agree that if it is too $$$$, money towards a purchase, I'm sure, would be much appreciated.

Good luck, first-time aunt!

Good luck.

You must buy the ottoman too! My gift to myself and my friends and family who gave me Babies r us gift cards, was a Shermag glider and ottoman from BrU. It would not have been as comfortable to nurse without that gliding ottoman. I wish it had a steeper recline because I probably fell asleep in it with my mouth hanging open....haha. but what ever you decide to do, make sure it coordinates with her other furniture, like wood color (mine is cherry to match MY bedroom furniture, where it is now), and fabric. All of that is personal taste since it will last her for years and years until it gets handed down or borrowed out. I hope she didn't pick the most expenisve one to keep up with the Jones's, if you know what I'm saying. I fell in love with a Dutailier, for comfort, but it didn't match my decor and it was alot more money. I don't know which one she selected, but I'd hope that she shopped around and tried them all out, at least at Babies r Us or Lazars Furniture, they are all lined up and ready for the testing!
If you can't buy the one she wants, get her a gift card to apply towards it and if it's that much money, let her pay the difference. It's not a bad thing, it's just reasonable.
Hope this helps!
