Hello, so I haven't been in here in for so long, so I thought I would come ask.. Again....
So my oldest daughters name is Braelyn Keianna, my youngest daughters name is LaWanda Zhane'
So... I'm pregnant with my third and last daughter, I know shes my last.because my husband is about to have a vasectomy next week. So anyhoo... I had it set in my head that her name was going to be Cordelia JeVaughn Brown.. But my husband does not like.Cordelia.. At all.. So, I'm considering other options.. Here they go..
Cordelia
Geordynn - husbands name is George
Xavia
JeVaughn
Justeen
Georgina
Zarriah
Zakiyah
Domonique
Regina
And that's all I have, my husband hasn't really given any.suggestions, my girls already are stuck on Cordelia, they said they will call her DeDe... The next top contender is Geordynn, but jordyn, jordan and any other spellings, the name is kind of popular, and I don't want that.... What do you ladies think.. And if you don't like one of mine names okay, their not for every body, but some people take their opinions to the point to where your just being mean.. Lets all be respectful please...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Still so unsure about the name.. But there is a method to my madness.. So let me explain.. I know how to spell Justine, but it looks to much like Justin.. So I changed it. I like it spelled either Justeen and also Jesstine. I live the name Vaughn, but its a little manly so I added the je.. I actually seen it on a name website.. Domonique.. This is actually how.every body ive ever met spelled it, so this is normal. Dominique seems like the boy way of spelling seeing as monique is spelled with an O. Geordynn, I've met only one other person with the name spelled like this, except he spelled out like geordan.. And that also looks boyish. Zarriah, means rose I.think... And zakiyah I got from hezekiah.. And I'm not sure how you spell that but oh well...Xavia is my own variation of Xavier.. Because we live X-men.. Lol... And Cordelia is a real old fashion name, normal spelling. Now my spelling is B... Former.seem that hard, buy.nobody spells it right, and people don't evenpronounce it right, but it doesn't bother me....never really has. My oldest has a unisex name, and.people have problems with sperling, but we just correct.them and go on. But I think I an marketing my list.down.
Cordelia.. Which this is.what it will probably be.. I get the final say and.if he.doesn't.agree our come with any thing, then why should her get say right.. Lol..
Geordynn, Xavia, Zarriah... This is, my narrowed down list... So far.. I have till the end of May, so ill keep task updated

Of the ones you list, I would go with Geordynn, Justeen, or Domonique. But, I would give each one a traditional spelling (Jordan, Justine, Dominique) so that she's not spending her whole life correcting people.

ooh I don't have any girls!! If we were going to have one - her name would've been Alexis.

I typically don't like names that are spelled funky - I think it's cruel to the kids because they will be forever correcting people. This comes from working at Kindercare and volunteering at school where kids have names the parents thought would be "unique" - one girl in Kindercare was sooo sick of correcting people - she started using the name SHE liked. Her parents were upset...the mom had started getting in a teacher's face for calling her daughter Rachel - "that's NOT her name" - the daughter said Mommy - THAT's the name I want!! The mom started crying on the spot. To this day - I believe she still goes by Rachel.

Out of all the names here - I like Georgina the best. It's solid, strong, yet feminine.

I like Cordelia too. It sounds like dad might be out voted! Maybe he would like Delilah, and she can still have De De for a nickname?

Avoid Regina. Had a friend in school named Regina. It was 16 years (college, too) of Regina-Vagina-Regina-Vagina...Hey, Vagina! Did you get the spelling homework? It wasn't even pronounced Ree-Chy-na, but Ree-gee-na. Kids made the leap. And it stuck. In highschool, she also picked up the nickname Fish & Tuna, She didn't smell. It was just more of the stupid Vagina business.

Not too keen on Domo... just because in Japanese it is a common word (domo arigato, for example). Like inserting "table" or "welcome" into a name. That's just me, though. Fluentish in Japanese skews my perception a tad.

Love Cordelia & Geordynn.

If you want some more uncommon names... jump back about 100 years and further in www.ancestry.com (Electra, Felerie, Alorah, Wiley, are just a few of thousands of names that have fallen out of favor).

My girls names are easy - they don't have to tell anyone how to spell them, they aren't correcting anyone on the pronunciation.

If you named your daughter Geordynn - people will be forever misspelling it. If you want to incorporate your husband - I like Georgina. She might end up going by Gina.

So from a dad's point of view? I like Georgina the best. Georgina Nicole.

Whatever name you choose, your daughter is going to have to spell her first name to every one she meets about 3 or 4 times so that when she has her own children one day, they will all be named Sue or Bob or something just as easy. Believe me, all my friends with hard to spell, long first names get tired real fast and frustrated of that life long time sink.

However, I love Cordelia - but your husband does not, so that one's out.
And I love your Geordynn name, which I am pronouncing like 'Jordan'

GL on all your school applications!

Love the Georgina and or Regina have you considered Reagan? Love that name. Cordelia is good too although if you want to change it up a little you could do Cordilya like the previous poster I am not a huge fan of throwing in different spellings on names as it is hard for not just random people but teachers and other kids to pronounce and you will never find personalized things like mugs, pencils, bookbags etc on vacation with names that are so different. not that that is a deal breaker but as a kid I loved those kinds of things and now so do my kids and grandkids

If you pick Jordan - please spell it that way. If you spell it Geordynn - no one will have a clue what the name is, how to say it, or if spoken, how to spell it. I had no idea what name it was until you said it was popular and listed Jordan as a name. Justine is the standard spelling for that name. Dominique (correct spelling) is very pretty. If you spell it Domonique, people will just think you don't know how to spell. Cordelia is pretty although old fashioned, as is Regina. I have never heard any of the other names.

Wow, you certainly have original names for your girls! I have to say that I agree w/ your hubby and not fond of Cordelia and definately not JeVaughn but as you pointed out, I don't need to like them but you and hubby do. Of the names you listed Justine (this spelling not yours...sorry) or Regina. I don't mind Domonique but to me it is a boy's name. If you are stuck on this list for both first and last, what about Regina Justine? Your girls could call her Gigi.

I personally like Cheyenne Nicole. Good luck.

I, too, like Cordelia. Too bad your hubby doesn't agree. I would also stay away from unconventional spelling of a name; it just makes things so much harder to go through your entire life having to spell and re-spell your name over and over and over. I also agree w/ Riley in regards to Regina and vagina ...

I grew up with a Justina; I always thought that was a beautiful name and it is still an uncommon name but very feminine. Justeen seems more masculine to me.

So my picks would be Justina and I also like Zarriah. I think that's very pretty.

I too love Cordelia! Then Georgina (a lot actually) or Georgia, and regina. Similar, I like reina/rayna. I like Justine spelled the "normal" way, and maybe zariah with only one r. I grew up with a name that was hard to pronounce and spell and couldn't stand it! So I personally believe in sticking to the common spellings of names. Or ones someone has heard at least once in their life :) congrats! Not trying to be mean at all but it does make it seem like you don't know how to spell like someone else mentioned. And made up names just seem kinda weird. Kids already get picked on enough!

I also like farrah, kamellia, kamela, marabella, Natalia, peyton, Quinn, rachelle/Rochelle, samya, Tatiana, and Vanessa. I'm not a big fan of being so literal (a baby named after george needs to start with a g) and since Jordan/jordyn is more popular, maybe jordana? Or it can be spelled giordana. I also like Julia/juliana or the Italian Giulia, or giuliana.

Eta: I actually think Vaughn by itself is cute! Better than adding the je in the beginning. Boyish middle names are cute kinda, and better than having a boy name for your first name. Plus many people do moms maiden name or a family name for middle names, so Vaughn would look normal.

I say Geordynn, I think it is sweet to name her after your husband. Love it! I don't know a single Jordan so I wouldn't consider it popular at all.

I think Cordelia is really cute and there certainly aren't a million of them. It's unique, but no too out there.

Your husband's name is George...what about Georgia? Or GeorgeAnne?

I also like Justine, with the regular spelling.
Maybe your husband will warm up to Cordelia. What if you just went with Delia? That's pretty. The girls could still call her DeDe.

Best wishes with whatever you choose!

I love Cordelia. I think its beautiful and elegant. I also like the idea of using Dad's name in some way. Georgette? Gia?

A word about Justine. The Justine I know gets called Justin all the time by the substitute teachers and people who don't look closely at the spelling. Justin is a super-popular boys name right now so maybe spelling it like you did might help avoid the confusion.

Congratulations on your upcoming addition!

DeDe is a very cute nickname for Cordelia. I like Geordynn, especially that spelling and the fact that it is after your husband's name. I have not heard that name or its variations very often, I do not think it is overused.

I love Cordelia the most...too bad your husband does not like it! Tehlulah (I am not sure the spelling) is a neat older name that somehow reminds me of Cordelia. Thalia is another one. Out of your list I really love Cordelia. Justeen is my second favorite although I would like the spelling Justine better. Xavia is my third favorite from your list. Good luck!

What about Geordelia? It is unique, honors your husgand and DeDe is still an option for a nick name. I understand that it's hard when your heart is set on a name and husband isn't a fan. I wanted Amber Michelle for our daughter but ended up with Taylor Michelle instead. In the long run, Taylor was the better choice. :)
Good luck with chosing the perfect name for your newest angel.
