Definitely not Emree. That isn't a name and will always be confused with Emery/Emory - misspelled and mispronounced all the time.

I don't love any of the others. I would rather see Ashley than Ashlyn and prefer Bryn to Brynlee (though I don't love Bryn either).

Sorry but ditto what everyone has said about spelling issues, pronunciation, think of when she's an adult etc. I don't care for any of them unless you made them a bit more traditional.

IMO, pick a formal name that will look good on a business card and a nickname that she can use in elementary school. I think parents need to keep the long view when they name their babies. My daughter has a classic name and a not as classic nickname. When choosing her name, one thing I considered was if I couldn't spell it or pronounce it, I wasn't giving it to my kid. I love Welsh names, but didn't use them for that reason.

If you are going to go with made up names please think about your baby as a girl and a grown woman.
Most people who have "unique" names always resent it, because it's a lifetime of, oh what's your name again? how do you spell that?
What about Emma, Emily, Ashley, Madeline?

I'm not a fan of these names, to be honest. I don't think Emree is a name, it would be Emery. I don't love the Adalyn spelling, I would go with the more traditional Adaline. But I don't have to love the name, YOU do! Just be sure that you're choosing something that isn't just a cute name for a little girl, but will be taken seriously when she is an adult woman in a career.

Good luck!

Any of those names will have your daughter correcting people's spellings and pronunciations for the rest of her life, to be frank.

Emree in particular sounds, as someone else put it, like a toddler trying to pronounce "Emily." You will be asked all the time, "Oh, her name's Emily?..." when people think they misheard you. She, herself, will be corrected by other adults in preschool and onward, "Do you mean Emily?" Please don't set her up for that. Emree sounds cute for a baby or toddler, but how does it look on the business card for a grown woman executive or on the web site for a woman trying to set up her own business? It looks...very young, and contrived. It will be corrected for her into Emily, Emory, Emery, etc.

Look at every name and ask yourself if it will be taken seriously by other adults when your child is an adult and is making her way as a professional.

Why not Adelaide Lynn instead of Adalyn, and nickname her Addie Lynn? Why not Ashley Lynn instead of Ashlyn? Or Bryn (or Brynn) Lee? All would work and give you the overall sounds you like without the contrived spellings.

I was surprised to see someone say Adalyn and Ashlyn are very popular in her area. Never heard them before. But even if every other girl had those names, the names still would sound, well, made-up. Give a more traditional name and then use a nickname as much as you like; then she has the option of using her full traditional name when needed or her nickname when preferred. She gets the best of both worlds. But if you're dead set on your list of names -- I'd pick anything BUT Emree.

Do I dare answer yet another question about names? After the last woman who asked what we thought about these exact names and then had a fit when we told her... Hmmm

I don't care for trendy names, odd spellings, etc. Not a fan of those you listed - instead of Brynlee, why not just the classic Brynn and pair it with Lee as the middle name? Then you can choose to call her by both or by one and when she's an adult, it's not too cutsie. My kids have unusual names - one Sicilian, one Celtic, reflecting our ancestors. My daughter has a cutsie nickname based on her middle name, but would do very well with her first name as an adult (or continue using her middle name if she wants - my mother did the same thing - cute middle name as nickname, more mature adult name from her first name).

The bottom line is whatever you name her on the day she's born, she will love it or hate it for her own reasons. I hate my name, even though everyone tells me they love it. I can't tell you why I hate it - it just doesn't feel right. And whatever notions you have about your child's name now, once you name your child, it will fit her in your mind. Also, everyone has an opinion - it's best you don't invite them to share their opinions.

There's nothing wrong with names you have chosen.

My theory when we were naming our daughter 19 yrs ago was to consider the name, picture a person in elementary school and each step through high school graduation . Then picture her as a college student, college grad.... On to mom and through to a woman about 80 yrs old.

Just picture that name from birth thru 80ish. Picture it as a teacher, newscaster, entertainer, etc and see if it fits with all ages.

The names you mention are al on the popular lists right now. Instead of a trendy name, we opted for something a little different but classy and it works well with all ages.

Be careful with trendy names and if you love it... Go with it.., it's your baby not ours. Just put yourself in her place as some lawyer, CEO, etc and see what fits all around .

I learned years ago in a Dale Carnegie course... The most important word you ever hear is your name.

Please make your daughters name something that she does not have to constantly repeat and spell for everyone.

My last name is an odd spelling of a semi normal name but gees... We have to correct people ALL the time with spelling as well as pronunciation.

Congratulations

none of these names strike any chord with me.

Names that we would have used for girls (the one we lost at 22 weeks was Alexis)

Olivia
Elyse
Veronica

My great niece's name is Brooklynn...

Please keep in mind when naming your child, they will be adults one day - working and people will be addressing them....what if they are in a board room?

Then keep in mind, when going on vacation, these names won't have a 'plate' or something else for her to get...

Congratulations on your upcoming girl!!

Good luck!

These names all seem very generic these days. It seems like I've heard them before...Actually, no, not these names specifically. But these *types* of names. Not traditional, spelled slightly different because someone wants their kid to have a "unique" name, so what happens is ALL the kids have "unique" names. Kindergartens get filled with Emrees, Emerys, Ashlyns, Teagans, Addisons, Bryns, Brynlees, Neveahs, Tayleys and Tylees etc. You get the picture. And the one kid that ACTUALLY stands out with a truly unique name is Charlotte. Or Katherine. Or Elizabeth.

Remember how about 12-13 years ago Aiden became really popular? And then people wanted names that weren't Aiden, but similar so they would stand out? In my daughter's kindergarten class, there were, and I'm not kidding, Aiden, Jaden, Brayden, Hayden and Caden. Cracked me up because instead of having a unique name, they all just got lumped together as the "Dens". The kid with the name that stood out was called "William".

As far as your name choices go, yeah, they're all cute. My fave of the four would be Brynlee.

I agree with the moms who have suggested that giving a kid a name with a unique spelling is annoying. You daughter will grow very weary of having to spell her name for everyone she encounters. I get tired of spelling my youngest's name and it's Brendan. A common name, and common spelling. Grrrr!

I don't really like any of those names. My daughter's name is Annalise. If I had another, her name would be Madeline.

Tyler and I never were able to come up with girl names that we could agree on!!

He likes Virginia, Michelle, Jennifer, Catherine - while they are nice names. I couldn't see yelling these names in a park! He just looked over my shoulder and said Diedra (He likes Dee-Dee).

Good thing we had four boys! :)

Out of the names you have here, none of them flip my switch.
I like Erin, Paula, Ashton (boy and girl name) and Rachel. Rachel is a really popular name too. Natasha...

Hope that helps!

I like all of them, except Adalyn. Ashlyn is a pretty name, and Emree has a very cute nickname, Emmy. Brynlee is cute, too. I also like Emerson. You seem to like up and coming, trendy names that are a little different. So, a few other suggestions that I believe are trendy and different names (but not similar to your names, though) are: Teagan, Hadley, Willow, Harper, and Hazel.

My favorites (for what it's worth) are: Bianca, Skye, and Genevieve. (I also really like Hazel, which I listed above). Good luck picking a name, and congrats!

Those names all have a pretty sound. I'd just recommend going with a traditional spelling. You don't want to put any roadblocks in your brilliant daughter's way, when she's nominated to serve as a Supreme Court justice ;)

So, instead of Emree: Emery.
Instead of Adalyn: Adeline

My first choice for you would actually be Adelie. It fits in well with your style, but it has a whole history as a name. And it's the name of a cute penguin species: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad%C3%A9lie_Penguin

Emory/Emery
Ada Lynn (first and middle name)
(if you meant to pronounce it Ada-line, then Madeline is a name)
Ashley (super popular and hard to picture as a serious adult name, sorry)
Bryn/Brynn Leigh/Lee (first and middle names)

Your child will be the one forever correcting people on the spelling and pronunciation of her name. Also - you are giving her a name she will bear her entire life. It should be a strong name that she can put on a resume. I try to imagine hearing ' the President of the United States 'insert your chosen name here.'

I personally like traditional names. My opinion is that girls turn into women, and you want a name that epitomizes strength. Whatever you choose, remember that and I think your choice will be fine.
My daughter's name is variant of my grandmother and mother- both of which are/were amazing, strong women. Her name has great meaning to me, and when she asks one day how I came up with her name, I'll tell her all about her amazing matriarchs. Good luck!

One of my best friends growing up has a cousin named EmRee. I know lots of people have said they don't like it, but I always thought it was a cool name when we were growing up. And I'm pretty sure she grew up to be a normal, successful person. I never associated her name with Emory board.

I wanted to use Adelaine (the traditional spelling for Adalyn) after my great aunt, but I couldn't get my husband to agree.

A good friend of mine has a daughter named Ashlyn and I like that too.

As a teacher I have seen much stranger names and stranger spellings than what you have picked out. Personally, I wanted a name that fit with our last name, wasn't a popular name, had meaning behind it (gift from God) and was easy to pronounce. I thought our daughter's name was easy to pronounce, but people always mispronounce it. She is the only Mattea that we know. It was important to me to have a name that was different from others because I liked having a name that was different from anyone else. (Unlike the name Amy which five of my friends were named in college.) And I hated it when another E. moved into our school. My mom's uncle thought my name was HORRIBLE! My mom still has the letter he sent to her that said I would be a failure in life because I had such a weird name. No matter what you choose, someone isn't going to like it. Choose the name that makes you happy.

I don't have a suggestion for a name but I will tell you that Adalyn and Ashlyn are very popular right now. There are so many girls in my daughters school with these names. Spelling is a big issue too. It's cute right now but it won't be cute when she is applying for college and jobs. Employers look at names and some people are held back from employement because of their names. The names are either to cutesy or way out there. Good luck!!!

I think the names are very pretty.
You need to choose the name you like best for her and not worry about what anyone else thinks of it. Its your child, not theirs. It will be her name, not theirs.

My son's name is Devyn. Trust me I have heard so much slack for it!! From that is a girls name, girl's spelling and that I just plain spelled it wrong. I just smile and thank them for their opinion.

My son loves the spelling of his name. He says as different as he is and fits him perfectly. He said it wouldn't have mattered how I spelled it because people always spell it wrong anyways... he gets it spelled Devon, Devan, Devin, Deven. He always says that the spelling of a name doesn't define who you are, you do.

People will judge you no matter what, whether it's your eyes, hair, smile, attitude, height, weight .. the list goes on and on...If someone judges you based on what your name is or how it's spelled, personally I feel they have bigger issues than you do.

So I say name your daughter a name that you love and spell it in a way you believe is just as beautiful as your daughter.

A friend of mine's daughter is named Ashlyn. That is actually the easiest spelling (the traditional Gaelic spelling being Aislin). I have another friend whose granddaughter is named Adalyn, and I like that one as well. I don't particularly love Emree (maybe if you spelled it Emory, but even so, that sounds like a boy's name to me). Brynlee is different, yet very feminine. I'd have a hard time choosing between Ashlyn, Adalyn, and Brynlee. I guess I'd try to pick the one that flows best with whatever middle and last name it will be going with.

I like all those except Emree, The spelling of that one is a little off-putting for me. Like it's a joke nickname. I think because people are using that name these days, but spelling it Emory pretty consistently. I'm also hearing a lot of Emerson lately. One of my friends spelled it "Emersyn" for her daughter which seems your style.

Adalyn might be my fave, very pretty and old fashioned. Ashlyn and Brynlee are both being used nowadays, but not so much so that there is any one way to spell them, so I think you are good on those.

I always thought I would name my daughter BraeLyn, or Tenley. I ended up going a little more "normal"... My sister liked the name Timmery after our dad but had a Tim instead :)

Other unique/trendy names: Story, Lyric, Jazlyn, Porter, Ainsley, Jessa, Isla (eye-luh). I know of an Eilie and an Eila (eye-lee and eye-luh).
