Dear S.,

Iwould suggest books for toddlers, educational videos with music, books on tape or CD's. My daughter enjoyed them in the car.

Sincerely,

O.

My daughter just turned two and I'll tell you what she likes right now. Little people playsets, puzzles, dress up clothes, baby doll highchair and stroller, toy vacuum. Hope this helps!

You've gotten some good ideas... looking back I think the toys they got the most mileage out of at that age were pretend play kind of stuff... fake food, plastic dishes, tea set, and things like that. They love to play house.

I always like to buy for about a year older than the child is turning. Because it allows the child to grow and learn. Plus I am always amazed at how fast the child will learn. I will give you example, my son turning 2 this month, recieved a toy last Christmas, that at first, showed no interested but about a month later he fell head over hills for it. And still loves it.

Hi S., I wanted to give you an idea for a present and after seeing Tiffany K's response about the Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake I wanted to tell you about my website www.aliciasark.com and tell you that we offer them as well as other stuffable animals. I do home workshops but you can also buy off my website and it will come to your doorstep or if you want to send it to the receiver you can. The child will get to hand stuff their very own stuffable animal, wish on a star, and have it to love forever.

Your GIFTS TO GOAH arrives complete with everything you need to make your very own stuffed animal, including:

Un-stuffed cuddly friend of choice
Rainbow Wish Star
Customizable Birth Certificate
Stuffing
Stuffing Directions
Reusable colorful animal carrier
Personalized Greeting Card
All you need to do is choose the animal, outfit and accessories, and we’ll ship it directly to you or your gift recipient.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Anything with a Disney Princess is always a hit. My daughter turned 2yrs last March and her favorite gift was a jack "rabbit" in the box (like a jack in the box, but a rabbit instead of a clown). She and her cousin just scream and laugh when it finally jumps out at them! Not sure where it was purchased, but it is very cute. Good luck. D. H.

Hi S.... I would definietly look into the pretend play area. Find out what she has to either add to or to start her off new, ie. kitchen/food play items, or baby stuff or little people play sets... At that age we are still watching for small items that can be swallowed so keep an eye out for that. My daughter loved her babies, but even more she LOVED her kitchen stuff. I wish I had gotten her more of those toys! She still drools over that stuff at the toy store, and she's 7+ now!

My daughter just turned two over the summer and is really "into" Little People, Polly Pockets (they are made much larger now than they were when I was a kid!) and her doll houses. She has a Fisher Price doll house, and a few of the smaller doll houses that Wal-mart sells (You can get a whole doll house set for $15) Those are her absolute favorite and she can play with them for HOURS straight - an amazing feat for a two year old.

You can't go wrong with books, art supplies (especially the "mess free" kind!) or DVDs. Pretend play toys are great too - dress up clothes, play food sets, etc.

I believe Strawberry shortcake and Carebears are back in now. Also Polly-pockets, petshop and barbies are good for that age. My niece loved them.

My daughter is about to turn 3 and she loves Dora the Explorer, Max & Ruby, and the Wonder Pets and all are available on DVD. They make little plush chairs with different characters that are good, too(cost about $20). She also loves puzzles, books, dolls, and her sit & spin(which is good for a 2 year old b/c it will probably be a few months until she would get into it). Play kitchen is a good idea as mentioned before, too. She wore hers out and we had to get rid of it. She also likes cars and balls, too, so don't rule out anything that is traditionally considered to be "for boys". Another thing I have her aunts and uncles do is send US treasury bonds. I keep them all in a drawer and she has gotten lots of them that in a few years, she can cash.

My 2yo loves baby dolls and has a stroller for it. And she loves doll houses...The Loving Family is what we are getting her for Christmas. Plus, she loves the play kitchens too.
