How about tickets to the movies with boxes of candy? You could write in the card that you will make arrangements to take her and a friend to the show.

I am assuming this is your daughter.
I don't care for the idea of encouraging Hannah Montana. i just don't think she is a good role model for young girls. I see her going down the same path as Brittney Spires did.
I think a gift certificate to places like "Discovery" in Crystal Lake, so she can pick out an outfit or maybe even Kohls, they have some nice fashions.
A certificate to go have her nails or hair done with a friend would be fun. Or even a pedicure.
Take the whole family to Medieval Times for her birthday. They have specials for the birthday girls.
If she is into baseball or any sports, maybe tickets to a Cubs game or any kind of sporting event. If she likes to skate, maybe new skates.
Maybe a new bike, Outdoor recreation in Woodstock has some great bikes, mountain and regular style.
My sister redid her daughters room for something special. Her daughter was into horses so she repainted her room and had someone paint a scene on the wall. She got her a new comforter. etc. She cam home for camp to a big surprise.
Take she shoe shopping at someplace like Shoe Carnival where they have lots of great fashions, in brand names. or even Gurnee Mills and then stop a Rain Tree Cafe for supper.
If she is into Science, take her down town to the museums for the day and then stop a Rain Tree Cafe for supper. rain tree Cafe is such a fun place for children as well as adults.
If she is into music a couple great CD'S. If she like gaming, a couple games would be nice.
There is just so much you can do at that age. Just look at your daughter and say what does she like to do.

Good Luck
S.

I would suggest anything Hannah Montana or High School Musical. Also, Claire's is a great place to get gifts for that age- accessories and fun lip glosses.

I have a 9 yo girl! She loves Webkinz,High school Musical, doesn't get the Hannah Montana hype(thank goodness-have you ever seen that show? It's AWFUL!), loves soccer. Claire's is a good idea too-lots of little things you can put in a gift bag!
