Hello-
My husband's birthday is coming up soon. This is his first birthday as a daddy (we have a 8 month old beautiful baby girl). Does anyone have a cute/sentimental gift I could get for him from our daughter? I already bought him a picture frame with her pic in it for Valentine's day.....
THANKS

What can I do next?

Why not make him a t-shirt with her hand prints in paint all over it in different colors? I made t's flike this for my mom & stepdad when my son was little and they LOVED them!

Or do her footprints with "MY Daddy Let's Me Walk ALL Over Him" painted on the shirt?

go to a place where you can paint ceramics, put the baby's foot or handprint on something like a mug. Or anything with the baby's foot or handprint is nice, at Michael's or other craft stores, some kits that you put the hand print and make a plaque from it...

Does you husband have a favorite sports team? You can get them matching jerseys. I also went to personalthrows.com and had a golf towel made with my daughter's picture on it and my husband has it on his golf bag. I know it is a little more boyish, but I did it with my daughter and my husband loved it.

A t-shirt with her picture or use paint and put her hand and/or foot prints on it. My sister did that for my dad and he loves it even still and the shirt is 5years old now!!!!

Her foot and hand prints in clay. Decorate it an have it fired with a hole to hang it on the wall.

The board book "Daddy's Girl" by Garrison Keillor - though it's more of a gift for your daughter, the sentiments are sweet and it's something they can share together. The illustrations are adorable.

some dad ideas (although i think better on fathers day than bdays) a t-shirt with her hand print on it, a photo mug) i thin a better bday gift would be a special ay - ask him if hed like a day with the three of you doing something special with the 3 of you (again better for fathers day) or would he prefer you had a baby sitter for the nite and you and him went out and had a great time eith just the two of you?

I went to a pottery place and put my kids hand or foot prints on a coffee mug for father's day presents. It is really cute and something that lasts for a long time. My kids love to look at how small their hands and/or feet were when I made the mugs. For Christmas I had a mosue pad made with their pictures on it.

Not sure if you have a way to do this, but how about making a cd/tape with songs about daddys and little girls? There are LOTS of songs like that or some other music that's special for him and your daughter. Maybe a short video of their 8 months together, culminating in pictures of your daughter with your husband on his birthday. I read the other posts and I think the jersey idea is really cute too. Let us know what you decide and have fun celebrating. :o)

What about a picture of your daughter on a t-shirt? Or her footprints/hand prints on a t-shirt ? You could always write something to. Does he drink coffee or anything in a coffee mug? You could have her pic done on that or all of you and on the back you could write something too.

Okay, I know you live forever away from where I live (in Dallas) but certainly there must be a place up there that does this.
For our first Fathers Day I had my son's hand and footprint imprinted on a clay football. Here's the link to show a picture of it... I bet you could find somewhere that would do it.

We still get compliments on it & he will be three yrs old in 2 weeks!

Hi K.,
Try this website and see if you like them. I have used them for special occasions as is father's day and mother's day. I am not afiliated with them or anything like that. I just like their products. www.personalizationmall.com. I hope this helps and if not that you still find something you like.

There is a very cute book called "Daddy Hugs" which I gave to my husband from our son for Father's Day. I also like to make things on Shutterfly, if you want to do more with photos.

How about a screen printed sweatshirt with a picture of your daughter on the front and a cute saying around it. Or even better get some fabric paint, place your daughter's hands onto it and then place them on the sweatshirt front in the center. When that dries get either fabric crayons or paint and write something around it. Whenever he wears his sweatshirt he will be able to show off his daughter's hand prints and she will be extra close to his heart.

Make a photobook for him on shutterfly.com or snapfish.com. I make them for my husband all the time and he LOVES them. You just have to upload your photos and you can easily make a nice book.

I know you said you already did the picture thing but something I did was take my husband's favorite picture of our daughter and blew it up to poster size for his work. I actually took his top 3 pictures. I had it laminated (you can do all of this at a Kinkos for about $20 - $25). He hung it up in his cubical/office at work and loves it. It's like a life-sized picture and he said he loves that it's so big because it makes him excited to get home and see her and also loves that she's so big because he feels like he's not missing much of her during the day. I did the same thing for my brother for his birthday last year. I took his favorite papa & daughter picture of them out in the snow since they're snow bunnies. He has a gear room where he keeps his skis and he put it there so that he can see it everytime he gets ready to go skiing with her. It's like his own personal ski poster.

Another gift I got was a gift card to a book store. I told my husband that this was a gift for him because he could take our daughter to the book store and the two of them could pick out a book together and have a bit of bonding time. There's an Eric Carle book that's title something like 'Papa, Please Get the Moon For me.' It's a super sweet book and it's one that the two picked out and my husband loves to read it to her. He feel's like it's his little one on one time with our daughter and their special bond.

Good luck.
