Hey A.,
I'm not familiar with those particular diets. However, I have heard that diet can help with Autism. I've heard that eating fresh RAW fruits and veggies and be benefical. And it is really hard to get children to eat a variety of fresh raw fruits and veggies. I would be happy to share an easy solution with you that my family has been doing to insure that we all get 17 different fresh raw fruits and veggies every single day! Please shoot me back a response if you are interested.
Best of Health,
C.

Did you watch 20/20 with Jenny McCarthy last night? She discussed this exact issue. Anyway, I have worked in special ed and in general, most people in the field are quite skeptical of the diet. However, I have a friend who put her 2 1/2 yr old son on a GF/CF diet and noticed remarkable changes/improvements in his behavior/symptoms. When she or her husband deviated from the diet and fed their son foods with gluten or casein, those "symptoms" re-arose and they had to start all over with the diet and wait for those foods to totally be eliminated from his system. I'm sorry I can't give you first hand knowledge, but I hope this helps a bit.

If you didn't see the 20/20 story with Jenny McCarthy mentioned below, there's a magazine on newstands now with her and her son on the cover with an article about them. I can't remember which magazine, but you'll find it in the grocery store check out line. You may also be interested in reading "Feast without Yeast" by Bruce Semon. His child had autism and he did the CF/GF diet and talks about the results in this book (amazing results), and how to do the diet. It is controversial as to whether or not the diet works, but it can't hurt to try.
