Ok, Im trying to lose those last 10 pounds and they dont seem to want to budge! I have been trying to diet (which is hard when you have a toddler and an infant and always on the go!) but I have been doing some strength training and starting to run again(I ran frequently before pregnancy) Is there a particular diet that you followed that helped? Or a particular exercise routine? I am working out at home (treadmill and weights) BTW I am pear shaped, so my problem is my lower abs, hips and thighs- Any advice will help! Thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

I have friends that eat 5 meals a day and lost 10lbs in 2 weeks. They eat healthy foods like salads with ms dash and chicken breast no salt... things like that. Me on the other hand have a 1 and 2 year old and I walk nonstop at work, walking to school, and I just eat decent and have lost about 20 since I started trying to lose weight.

I've always had trouble losing weight, until I was pregnant and diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Talk about eye opening. I had met with a nutritionist and learned that the key is to balance protein with carbs. Check out the book The Insulin-Resistance Diet, found it at my library. I eat protein with everything (cheese, nuts, eggs, meat, yogurt). Snacks are required (this is where the 5 meals per day comes in), but no more than 15-20g of carbs. Veggies other than corn and potatoes are free, eat as much as you'd like.

I haven't been too strong on the diet thing, but lately I have been dropping weight. I have been on a high protein breakfast and salad in the evenings. I am slowly, very slowly dropping weight. I am doing some very low impact exercise, due to a back injury, but a lot of stretching.

I've now lost 40-50 pounds 3 times (3 kids) this way. And whenever I need to re-lose those pesky yo-yo last ten pounds, again and again and again, this always works in about 2 weeks:
Healthy food-ESSENTIAL.
I eat big breakfast (3-400 calories w/protein, whole grains and fruit), big lunch ( 3-400 cals protein, veggies, whole grain carb), substantial 3-4pm snack ( 300 cals protein/fruit/veggie/carbs), light dinner-no more than 300 calories, protein vegis carb) NOTHING AFTER DINNER.
All food is natural, almost no sugar aside from a square of dark chocolate here and there.
Strength training 30 mins-hour and 40 minutes cardio at LEST 3 times per week , preferably 5. I use the gym, but the most amazing DVD I have when I cant' get to the gym is my Turbo Jam Booty Sculpt. It's awesome lower body and abs, but also sculpts arms. It's only 30 minutes, so I try to do 30-40 minutes of something else later in the day too-drag the kids across town in a wagon to the park...etc... DON"T SKIP THAT LATE AFTERNOON HEALTHY SUBSTANTAL SNACK! It makes you eat less for dinner, and it doesnt' allow your metabolism to slow down during that long stretch between lunch and dinner.

When the work outs are hard to squeeze in, the good diet alone will help you keep from gaining and lose faster when you do exercise. Also, GO TO BED EARLY so you can burn fat with plenty of sleep and avoid snacking at night. Not easy with little ones I KNOW, but it works.
Good luck!

if your already exercising and eating healthy - you might want to try a cleanse. Find out what your personal total calorie intake for the day should be and then do 3 days of only protein and like 128 fluid oz of water (or any other 0 calorie liquid) then on day four add veggies in to every sitting - doing this for 2 weeks should knock off those pesky 10 pounds - just be sure to drink enough water and ease back into carbs or you wont lose and you might put it all back on :o)

i'm shaped like you and i also have those last 10lbs to lose. i lost about 20lbs at the beginning of the year and keep yo-yoing the last 10. i'll lose and then for some reason gain back. anyway, i went to sparkpeople.com. it's a free site similar to weightwatchers.com but you don't count points. you just put in how much you want to lose, how much you weigh and exercise a week and it'll give you how many calories you can eat. it's a great site with a lot of support and different groups.

no dairy, no sugar (of any kind, by any name) and no flour, breads or processed foods. The weight will fly off. Make sure you eat lots of fresh whole grains (whole grains meaning not broken down, so like brown rice, quinoa, millet, buckwheat, stuff like that) and lots of fresh veggies lightly steamed. Lightly season with some tamari or miso broth, hummus stuff like that.
