Getting Super Glue off of a Headstone?

My sister super-glued a plastic fly on her son's headstone (his imaginary friend was a fly) and it dripped on the front of the headstone. Any possible clue as to how to get it off? I'm pretty sure it's permanant, but I told her that I'd ask you guys.

What can I do next?

I would ask the cemetery grounds crew before you do anything. I'm sure this isn't the first time something like this has happened.
My very first thought was fingernail polish remover, but again, I would ask in the office at the cemetery.

I'm sure you'll be able to get it off without damaging the headstone.

Best wishes.

Don't do anything to a headstone without asking a monuments company (the firms that actually make headstones). The one that made this headstone should be willing to tell her what to do, depending on what the stone is made of. They may even make a specialized cleaner she can use. Using household cleaners, scrubs or bleaches on headstones can ruin them. A belt sander, which someone suggested, would utterly destroy any surface on the headstone where the sander was used, and would leave an ugly scar on it she'd always see -- even worse than the drip of glue. Let the company that made it know what happened. If they can't fix it for her, she could get a new one made and have a fly engraved on it -- more permanent that even a super-glued one.

You could try acetone (nail polish remover).

Depending on what it is made of ( if it is granite) you can probably use a straight edge razor to scrape it off, but I would be careful. I use straight edge razors to clean the top of granite counter tops and granite smooth surface cook tops.

The heavy duty way to do it would be to use a belt sander... it would be a lot easier than a razor (which I'm not sure would work anyway because the chemical in Superglue has probably worked it's way into the pores of the stone).

Depending on the finish and the stone,.Finger nail polish remover will work, but I would call the people that carved it and ask their opinion.
