i know, weird title, right? Maybe not as i am sure most of you parents with boys have also run into this issue. My 3 yr old son is potty training. i usually have to clean our toilets 2x's sometimes 3x's a week due to him missing the toilet and peeing on the side, behind and on the floor. I scrub with clorox but sometimes that doesnt always get the smell out. Sometimes it is a mixture of pee and clorox... ewww...nasty!
What do you use to clean your floors and toilets better so that the pee smell goes away?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

The smell may also be absorbed in the fabrics in the bathroom...i.e. towels, rugs, carpet or whatever. You may need to even wash the walls and countertops, wash towels, etc

I like the Method spray cleaners--Grapefruit or Lavender.
Just keep the spray bottle in the bathroom along with a roll of paper towels.
It'll be better if you keep after it right away. Spray, wipe, pitch the paper towels. Get the sides & front of the bowl, the bottom parts by the bolt (GROSS!), the wall & floor every time.
The do a "deep" clean once per week.
Worked for me!

Vinegar gets sweat out of my DH's work clothes. So another vote for straight vinegar.

When DD was potty training, I used a lot Nature's Miracle, too (well, still do- we have cats that have hairballs....). Works well.

Vinegar is a great solution. Be careful that you don't put it on any natural stone however (granite, travertine etc)

Nature's Miracle is what I have used. Yes, it's made for pets, but don't tell it that you're using it for people problems.

If I were you I'd try pouring it on the problem, not just spritzing it. It could be that some of the, um, offensive liquid has gotten under the flooring into the subflooring. If so, the subfloor needs to be soaked with NM as well to get any odor out.

Ah, boys. They're wonderful, really. Most of the time.

Vinegar. Listerine. Use it first and scrub. Wipe up and then use whatever you normally use. Yeah, it stinks, you gotta do it twice, but it works.

Vinegar. The smell will go away faster than you think.

I use vinegar and baking soda and scrub it well. When I just want a quick clean up I use something I bought at the pet store for cleaning up dog urine. It seems to work better for the daily wipe down.

Thank the heavens and stars that we have finally moved past that stage!!

Well, prevention... put some fruit loops in the toilet to help him practice aiming! But I also agree, vinegar helps but has kind of a nasty smell on it's own!

The only thing that I have found that will get rid of the smell of human urine is a product called Gone that is manufactured and sold by Oreck. Human and pet urine are different. What had worked for pets didn't work for human urine, especially adult human urine. Gone has the enzymes necessary to get rid of the chemicals that cause the odor. I've used it on tile, porcelain, carpet and upholstry with great results.

Urine combined w/ clorox (bleach) can be toxic. Give your 3 year old a box of baby wips and when he goes pee, let him take a baby wipe and wipe around the floor by the toilet.
