I was just wondering if any of you moms got pregnant within a year of having your 1st (or 2nd, 3rd....)baby? I just had a baby in Sept (he's 3 months old now)and my husband and I want about 4 kids and we want them to be close in age. Is 6-8 months after my 1st pregnancy too soon to get pregnant again? I would really like people's opinions who have done it and if it's a bad idea I definitely want to know. We have no set time that we want to start trying again, but it's on our minds. I love my son and can't wait for more little ones...although I admit being pregnant again doesn't excite me....
What do yall think? help!

What can I do next?

First and foremost I think you should do what feels right for you and your family. My son is 16 months and my daughter is 1 month old. When I was pregnant with my daughter I received negative comments about how close they were together from people whose children were at least 2 years apart, however, those who had children within 1 year to 18 months apart told me how wonderful it is. I won't lie, it is a handful and there are moments when it's just plain crazy but I think it would be crazy no matter how far apart they since children never stop needing mommy. I have been told by moms whose siblings that are close in age tend to get along better than those who are further apart and that they tend to be really good friends. I have also heard that the older one is less jealous because they haven't entered the selfish faze yet. My son loves his sister and I am glad they are close together. The advice I have for you is make sure you and your husband are ready mentally, physically, and emotionally for a second child and if you are both ready then why not?

I know a couple of people who have done that and are happy with their choice. So long as you had a healthy pregnancy with no complications you should be ok. If you had a C-Section, they say you really should wait at least 18 months before getting pregnant again in order to be sure your body is ready again.

They say 6 months is the earliest you want to get pregnant again. My kids are 13 months and 2 weeks apart. I have a 3 month old and a 16 month old (she'll be 17 months in 2 weeks) My second wasn't planned but now that I have her I love that my kids are so close and my 16 month old is so in love with her baby sister.

My OB told me it takes about 9 months for your uterus to get back to normal and fully heal after a pregnancy and he does not recommend trying to get pregnant before that. also, I have 3 boys who are 21 months apart and they are a handful if I could have i would have had them farther apart. it is hard take it from me, I love my boys dearly and I would not change it but a little more space between them would be easier. and if you have any kids with issues like I do, then its even harder when they are really close together. plus not to be too negative, i had pregnancy complications and it was tough being on bed rest with a baby at home that was 18 months. I would also wait until you have a couple before you decide on 4... its not easy and its expensive. 3 was all we could do and we wanted at least 4...just something to think about best of luck

I recommend waiting until your first can walk to have another because you can really hurt your back and hips carrying around a big baby when you are in your third trimester...and once you hurt yourself bad then you can't carry the 1st baby at all.

I have four kids ages 17,12 2 & 8 months. My 2 year old was 10 months when I got pregnant with my youngest and I think that was perfect timing. I wish I had done that with my 17 and 12 year old. It does get a little hectic from time to time but I have wonderful husband who is very hands on so he makes it really easy. I think its a great idea to have them close in age.
Good Luck!!!
